While I guess it's OK that Apple's mail client provides the option for "Windows-Friendly" attachments, I think a Windows-Hostile attachment option would be way more interesting.

So which is greater: the number of people boycotting Hobby Lobby, though they've never shopped there, or the number of people who boycotted Rolling Stone, though they've never read it?

My latest blog: "Windy Smitty"

Another post that is not about content management, or educational technology. Though I offer the most compelling argument ever on why you and your family should wear a helmet when bicycling.

Really....if you don't the like the fact that news and social media sites are reporting on the number of comments that a hot felon's* mug shot is getting on social media and news sites, THEN QUIT COMMENTING ON THE FREAKIN' SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEWS SITES ABOUT IT ALREADY.

Newflash: these sites are counting the comments for advertising purposes, they don't care what the comments actually say.

And quit blaming the media, we ARE the media now.

(*He is an ALLEGED felon, who is allegedly a hottie)

If ever a story needed a #NotTheOnion  tag, it's this one.

Velveeta is being pulled off the shelves in 12 states for not having enough preservatives
Velveeta, a processed cheese that some say would survive the apocalypse, is getting yanked off the shelves in 12 states for not having enough preservatives. ...

Article about free time in Finnish schools...45 minutes instruction-to-15 minutes free play.

Interesting story about taking 15m breaks every hour in school.
An American teacher in Helsinki questioned the national practice of giving 15 minute breaks each hour—until he saw the difference it made in his classroom.

Facebook and several news sites seem be down--at least in my neck of the woods.

Thus, this a good time for time to visit my site. I am currently seeking new opportunities in educational technology and content strategy. If you can, please take a moment to learn more about me.

Thanks

Detroit Free Press publishing week-long exposé on lack of accountability for Michigan's charter schools. In response Michgan-based National Heritage Academies, the largest charter network in the state apparently responded by buying up all the ad space on the Free Press' site.

I say "apparently" because that does not seem to be the case now. Perhaps either the Free Press or NHA suddenly developed a conscience about the conflict of interest.

Though NHA still currently owns the ad space of the Detroit News site. I guess they're hedging their bets.

"The ad buy is such a perfect response from a corporate entity: use the profits obtained from our tax dollars to blanket unfavorable press with an over-the-top advertising onslaught to convince us that there is nothing to see here but happy interracial students excelling in life thanks to a for-profit charter corporation."
NOTE: This post has been updated HERE. The Detroit Free Press is running a spectacular, week-long series on charter schools in Michigan and the woeful lack of oversight and accountability our state...

I stand corrected, there is no "apparently."

NHA "click me's" are all over the Free Press site. They just take a while to load.

I have some brothers and sisters that are many years older than me, so that 45 was in the family quite some time. The song certainly got my attention, though not sure why I need to drop a few hundred bills on a phone to get exercise.

I wonder if there is any evidence that all these apps and devices (like FitBit) are having any impact on fitness.

this odd "go you chicken fat go" song in the new Apple ads is actually a JFK era gym class song:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/06/13/chicken_fat_song_apple_iphone_5s_commercial_uses_kennedy_era_exercise_anthem.html …
If you’ve been watching the NBA playoffs, you have seen an Apple commercial in which various people do exercises, play sports, and monitor their fitness apps to the accompaniment of a rousing song that begins: Touch down, Every morning, Ten times! Not just, Now and then. Once more on the...

My sister and I used to play that 45 incessantly. Then, I got my first ever 45 of my own, it that the "Batman" theme on both sides.

Bye-bye chicken fat.

This is one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. Homeless man (carrying only pocket knives and not in close proximity officers) is hit with flash-gernade and is shot in the back as he flees. THEN is shot with beanbag rifles and attacked by police dog.

Hard to envision mitigating circumstances in this case.

I will will warn you, as Burnett does, this is a graphic video.
James Boyd died after being shot in the back by officers, becoming the 26th person killed by Albuquerque police in 4 years.
