Is it a good idea to start using solid state drives? A question I receive often. Here's a good article on pcsupporthub.com discussing the usage of:

Are you toying around with Windows 8? If so, do you miss the traditional Windows 7-style Start menu? Yeah, me too. For that reason, we have been tracking ways to re-introduce the Start menu, and another alternative has surfaced. See the revised update to the following article:

Are you covering security basics on your personal computer? Many feel they're safe, or think it's a hassle. Here's a review of a popular anti-spyware program, SpyHunter 4.

Hey Gus,
I had been using Malware Bytes. Org with my Norton and was shocked after I ran a scan on my computer using Spy Hunter and revealed 860 virus infections and out of those 860 infections which I thought were removed from Malware Bytes and Norton. The latest virus that was detected was ad.yieldmanager.com , White Smoke, and some others I have never heard of. To make a long story short I am very pleased with Spy Hunter and to finally get rid of those pesky virus infections and also purchased the Reg Hunter for registry problems. I hope all is well and thank you for your review too.

Big, or small, every business has network vulnerabilities, as hackers and malicious code are equal opportunists. It is important to establish an appropriate network security plan, complete with software, hardware, and respective training for all users.

With Internet speeds as fast as they are these days, more and more software and media is being offered via download. That's okay, except when the ISO you downloaded needs to be written to disc.

Read the following article to learn how to burn an ISO to DVD, and there's also a link to another contributor's article on using a virtual drive.

If you're looking to upgrade, or replace your existing computer's security program, may I recommend you check out our review of Bitdefender Total Security 2012. This article provides a decent look into test ratings, functionality, and how user-friendly it is:

With Windows 8 right around the corner, there are some aspects of this new OS to consider. At the moment, Microsoft is fixated on pushing their Windows 7 Phone functionality to Windows 8, meaning, no more traditional Start menu. Watch this for more details:

For many small businesses, HIPAA still seems to be a foreign language, or don't think it affects them. Whether or not your company processes, handles, transmits, shares PHI, it would be in your best interest to follow the same responsibilities. IMO, HIPAA paints a good picture as to how all companies should approach vulnerability management.

Have you ever considered email security awareness and training programs, but was hesitant to spend the money? I have also been told by many small to mid-size organizations that they just don't know what to do.

Read my review of Phishme to get a better understanding of how to address security, other than a simple internal audit.

May have thought that DDoS attacks were the thing of the past with the level of security found on most modern hardware, but think again. In a recent 'The Hacker News' article, "Largest DDOS attack hit Chinese company", such an attack on an ASIAN eCommerce company lasted a week!

You may find my most recent article helpful in understanding DDoS attacks and protection available.
