Pitchers – (sequencing using “Down and Away Fastballs” will result in more hard hit balls) In addition to losing 5 mph or more Ev speed from your fastball, and increasing the chance of putting the ball directly in the speed range…location…and downward path the batter is hunting, an “ecosystem” built around a down and away fastball makes little to no sense, and makes it almost impossible to hide any of your subsequent off-speed pitches you throw for a strike. Semper fidelis

The facts (actual statists) are unambiguous – Ev efficient tunnels, setup by your fastball in the “plus” part of the strike zone, coupled with sequencing that makes “Ev sense”, will eliminate all but about 10% of hard hit balls. As Parry stated, "It is not about better stuff, it is about using your stuff better"! Semper fidelis

If you "fully understood it" and "fully employed it" as your pitching strategy for every mound appearance, your performance (and stats) would go through the roof. What's that old adage, "It's easy to be hard, but hard to be smart". Semper fidelis

Compelling evidence indicating that a pitcher incorporating this one change in pitch location will net positive results... to paraphrase a good quote, "hitting is all about timing and pitching is all about messing up that timing".
