Most college students opt for a relaxing spring break. But 20 St. Joseph’s College students had different plans. They traveled to Houston to spend their week off helping people still reeling from the damage wreaked by Hurricane Harvey last August.

The Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, NY hosted a heartwarming Presidential Mass for our newest President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. More than 200 people, including students, faculty and staff from both of our campuses, crowded into the beautiful and ornate Sacred Heart Chapel at the Sisters’ convent in Brentwood, New York, to witness the congregation’s formal introduction of Dr. Boomgaarden.

The College’s latest recruitment campaign, “Ready. Set. Joe’s,” won multiple awards at the 33rd Annual Educational Advertising Awards. The campaign won seven gold awards in the Integrated Marketing Campaign, Magazine Series, Newspaper Series, Radio Series, Television Series, Total Advertising and Total Recruitment Categories, and one silver award in the Outdoor category.

SJC Brooklyn students, faculty and staff – responding to the devastating February 8 earthquake in Taiwan – gathered for a 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser in The Hill Center. The proceeds from the event were donated to support the efforts of the College’s partnering institution, Tzu Chi University (TCU), which is playing a critical role in helping its hometown – Hualien, Taiwan – recover from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the coastal community.
