The gluten free pizzas were SO GOOD! Kind of on the pricey side but it was a bigger pizza than the usual 10 inch so totally worth it. The Mighty Meaty was packed with tons and tons of toppings. Someone in our group ate the gf pizza on accident and didn't even know it was gf. It was THAT delicious! The non-gf pizza eaters really loved their pizzas too. The one with the red skin potatoes was a big hit. They also really enjoyed the Colorado beer flights. Although the hostess was pretty unfriendly, our waitress was super attentive and patient.

On my first trip to Colorado, The Mellow Mushroom was suggested to me by a local. As a huge fan of pizza I was excited about trying out this establishment. It is a chain restaurant and sometimes chains can get it right and be consistent with food quality and service. When I arrived and looked at the cartoon signage - I had my first doubt. I found the atmosphere loud and the dining room set up was awkward. The Mellow Mushroom is family-oriented and the place was about one third full. I have tasted pizza all over Europe and North America. Growing up in Toronto we had some great pizza joints and today with wood burning stoves everywhere - good pizza should be a no brainer. Not so here. The server decided to sit down beside us to take our order. This was not a good omen. I am not a fan of being chummy with servers. The kitchen appeared confused as witnessed by the stressed look on the servers and their inquiries about estimated wait times. We waited too long for our drink order. The menu is enormous and has lots of choices.- too many in fact. I find that overly ambitious menus can lead to confusion in the kitchen and also issues with regards to ingredient quality. Mellow Mushroom offers, to name but a few: pitas, salads and wings and hummus, calzones and hoagies- one is even made with tempeh. In my experience it takes a lot of discipline to execute a menu that is meant to please everyone. I feel that the options were great when you want to build your own pizza or Calzone even including nuts and fruits, curried and jerk chicken. The menu has a long list of fully loaded pizzas like this one -Red Skin and Potato Pie- Olive oil and garlic base with sliced roasted red potatoes, Applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Garnished with chives then drizzled with sour cream and spicy ranch dressing. Small $12.95 medium $19.75 large $24.95 I am not sure anything is missing except the kitchen sink. I believe less is more- I am sure there is a market for this style of Pizza- it is not for me. When the pizza(s) finally arrived, our three orders did not come out of the kitchen at the same time. Pizza gets cold quickly so waiting for the third pizza to arrive spoiled the dining experience. My custom built vegetable pizza was cold and although I had asked for a thin crust - I got the standard crust. The texture of the crust was chewy and the flavours of the vegetables were pedestrian. The other two pizzas were good enough according to the other diners. The meal was expensive for the quality. I did give the Mellow Mushroom two tries at getting it right. Rather than return here, I would give another pizza restaurant a chance

Great pizza place. It can be a long wait so make a reservation. I really enjoy their pizza. Good flavor fun atmosphere. They have live bands periodically. They also are very accommodating gluten free and such.

We've eaten at Mellow Mushroom several times and have always had wonderful service, yummy pizza and a fantastic selection of nice cold Colorado micro brews. We love to have the beer samplers and the cosmic pizza. Even when there is a wait, it's a beautiful venue to stroll around the mall.
