Came across this gem on Amazon tonight.  Check the reviews and the customer questions and answers, such as:

I will keep this short and simple. I bought this darn thing to help me out because I have been doing this manually for years. I have a spreadsheet and a sharpie. When an egg comes home from the store I create a new row in the spreadsheet, then write the number on the egg. Then I place the egg in the tray and go back to the spreadsheet to update the row. So many times I forgot which egg went in which hole, until I started putting the numbers on the top of the eggs. Then a friend conveniently bought this for me.

I'm almost skeptical that this product actually exists.  I always thought the idea of smart fridges has sounded utterly unnecessary, but for some reason they've always been featured in the future connected-home stories, pretty much since the introduction of the web in the nineties.  It might all be because of this:

Hmm... Fox News's criticism is that people who are inclusive are hypocrites when they exclude people who aren't inclusive?
Feathers have been ruffled at California’s Ventura High School, where the principal this week banned the football booster club from selling Chick-fil-A sandwiches over fears that people might be offended.

Impossible planet? Meet the impossible stars.

Astronomers studying Kepler data find a star system that seems to defy all attempts to explain it.

Not much to add here, a short and worthwhile read.
For millions of Americans a towed car can lead to a crippling spiral of stress, debt, joblessness, illness and, in many cases, incarceration.

It's time for your first installment of Grumpy Grammar Guy. Now how are we supposed to this word correctly if Google can't even get it right? Based on the graph, there appears to be a growing epidemic of misuse.

The sample sentence included does not match the definition. Incentivize is not a synonym for motivate. It means "to provide someone with motivation," and applies to the person doing the motivating--not the receiver.

We would all do well to completely eliminate this business speak from our vocabulary. About the only place where this word could possibly be used correctly is in the context of a meeting amongst managers discussing how they can better do their jobs. And even then, it sounds less pretentious to just say "what can we do to motivate our employees?"

Next up on the backfirIng attempt to sound well educated list: "utilize."

Sheldon Patinkin, a crucial figure in the development of improvisational comedy in Chicago and a mentor to generations of American and Canadian comedians, as well as aspiring theatrical directors and other theater artists, died Sunday at the age of 79, his close friend Jane Nicholl Sahlins said Sunday. ;

They found Pandorica! #DoctorWho
Stonehenge, perhaps the world's most famous neolithic monument, is like an iceberg, with unsuspected monuments now revealed beneath the surface. The discoveries have expanded the range of potential astronomical uses to which the builders could have used the mighty structure.
