Yes, I think Putin would look much better with a nice silk paisley pattern. Or even bowties would be an improvement.

The new "extremely large" telescope is set to unseat the previous record holding "pretty big" telescope, report astrophysicists.

Construction starts on ‘extremely large’ telescope (from PBS NewsHour)
The European Extremely Large Telescope will produce images 15 times sharper than those of the Hubble Telescope, and collect light faster than any other optical or infrared telescope. Continue reading →

Does anyone know if there is an RRTP price-aware thermostat on the market yet?

Price-vs-comfort programming would be wonderful so I don't have to manually futz with the controls all day.   We have a dual fuel furnace for the winter and it would be awesome if during the winter months, we could program thresholds for switching between heat pump and gas furnace backup based on electricity prices.

I prefer the set it and forget it method.  My husband is the futzer, and drives me crazy. "Why did we spend $100 to replace our perfectly good dial thermostat if you won't let the programming do its job, Gary?!"

But why didn't he just strap her to the roof like Aunt Edna from National Lampoon's Vacation?

Can't wait to try some of these new treats! I'm particularly excited about pine nut ice cream.

Chicago is exploding with Mexican ice cream shops that serve fresh fruit and inventive, often strange flavor combinations.

Has anyone considered or implemented using a natural gas backup generator during high prices?  During these >25c/kWh peaks, it makes me wonder if this is a cost-feasible solution to help out the grid during high demand periods.

I would guess the arithmetic would involve a function of how much power you are currently consuming vs. the current cost/kWh.

You'll definitely have to post some updates if you start a geothermal project.  Like you said though, it still seems to be a pretty "green" industry.
