At Mi Cocina the food is a little better and the service beats Taco Diner by a mile. Especially the Lakewood location. Waiters make you feel like an inconvenience. Disappointing because the patio is great.

I never understood the appeal of Taco Diner. Just go across the way to Mi Cocina, it's slightly better yet almost exactly the same and litteraly 10 feet away.

Great outdoor seating and trendy vibe in West Village. Mexican Punch was amazing. I'd recommend this place for a great date night or catching up with friends.

20151014: usually 1 mambo taxi gets me very happy. I am not an alcoholic, but I took friends and family to this wonderful location to get their bang for a great buck with good food and great staff. Tonight I took friends here and three mambo taxis later I feel very sober. Do not go here to get a good alcoholic beverage, except a sugar high and large waist line. July '15 : I've been young to this location for 13 years now. Great service, friendly staff. Sure 13 years, but even new staff remember my name and life history. Food was consistently great till the recession. Now a days it is good, very hit or miss on some items especially their salsas. This week several items were low on salt, perhaps since I was the very last order. I'll keep going back.

Much like its fancy sister restaurant Mi Cocina, I don’t feel like this franchise is really worth all the buzz. The food is very typical TexMex, and service is mediocre to lackadaisical. On several visits I have tried different items on their menu to give them a fair chance. It feels like the black/refried beans have been sitting too long on the stove waiting for your boilerplate order to accompany melted queso drenched tacos. If you are looking to satisfy a craving, then this is an easy go to option – don’t expect to write home about your experience.

Greatest gourmet mexican food thats in the area, and not too expensive. I was here for valentines day with my girlfriend and I accidently spilled my water all over her food, I was so embarrassed, but the waiter brang a fresh plate of food out no extra charge:]
