NationalParkService performed its annual test installation of the 17th Street closure in #DC last Friday. This year, NPS was able to put up the structure in less than 3 hours! This levee system reduces flood risk for more than 40,000 people and $14 billion in property.

It looks like fall πŸ‚πŸCheck out where great peak foliage in the D.C. area is including at the Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve. Baltimore District and NationalParkService are working to protect and restore freshwater tidal marsh within the preserve. http://ow.ly/X5KT30mvkVa

Alex Baldowski, civil engineer, guides our contractor as they place stone along a containment dyke at Poplar Island. This beneficial use project relies on dredged material collected from the approach channels to @portofbalt to restore lost remote island habitat within the Bay.
