iPhone struggle? Ha. Strike that one up in the fail column.

"Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone, which goes on sale in the US today, will struggle to break into the mainstream because of a lack of a 3G connection and low demand for converged devices, according to research."
— wrote the Guardian‘s Jemima Kiss on June 29, 2007

Struggle? Not so much. Five years ago today, the iPhone went on sale.

Discount Tire
571 East Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075
I have bought 4 sets of tires for 4 cars at this store. I have got to say that I would never go anywhere else! Quick, will beat anyone's price, gives you their honest opinion which isn't always the expensive option, pleasant to deal with, quality work. Even the guys working in the shop cannot be nicer and they can't do enough for you. My only gripe is that I need WiFi while I wait. This is one of the best businesses I have dealt with in a while.

A-1 Fence & Deck Co

A-1 Fence did an awesome job on my fence. Mark was very good and explaining the process and helping me make the right decisions for my fence. He was quick at providing a quote, flexible in the changes that I requested, and his crew was very quick and hard working at the installation. I was amazed at his crew taking only 1 break all day. They came in, installed, cleaned up and were out in less than 2 days. The installation was professional and the fence is quality. I can not be any happier. My wife, kids and dogs are the happiest and that is what matters the most!
Quality Excellent

It's becoming so clear how Google's keyword tool needs to have geography targeting down to the city or zip code level. Some industry category level data would be awesome too. Thanks.

Great explanation. Thanks.

All these tweets about moving to Canada because of the Obamacare ruling are amusing and foolish, of course, since Canada has had socialized medicine for almost fifty years:

http://www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/people-moving-to-canada-because-of-obamacare

Anyway, that got me wondering where these poor uninformed folks could actually move to instead.  Canada is out, as I mentioned, as are most European countries (England, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Spain...), Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Brazil... basically, most of the countries that Americans enjoy visiting all have full-blown socialized medicine programs that make Obamacare look tame by comparison.  A quick search led me to the Wikipedia entry for "universal health care", which has the handy map you see below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care

The orange countries have universal healthcare, the grey countries do not, the yellow countries are going universal, and the few brown countries apparently have healthcare coverage funded by the US.

So for all the Obamacare refugees-to-be out there, I have some great news!  To escape the tyranny of Obamacare and satisfy your non-nationalized medicine cravings, you still have plenty of options all around the world.  Pretty much anywhere in Africa fits the bill.  You can also check out China and North Korea, which should hopefully put to rest any claims that universal health care is somehow linked to Communism.  It looks like Indonesia and the Philippines are also fair game if you prefer living by the beach in a warm, tropical climate.  There are also some places in South America that seem to be holding firm against the orange tide of universal health care, such as Colombia and Peru, and they're close enough to the States that you can still visit your friends every once in a while and offer them your sympathies for having to pay for their mandatory health coverage under Obamacare while you're living large in the Andes.

So there you have it.  With so many great choices available, it'd be a real shame to waste any more time when you could move right away and be nicely settled into your new, non-socialized-medicine country well before this November.  Bon voyage!  (No, France is not an option -- their medical care is one of the most socialized in the world.  Their government also makes you take like six weeks of vacation every year.  You'd hate it.)

Update 1: For those who are interested, here's another source that seems to have a more updated map of what countries offer universal health care coverage: http://chartsbin.com/view/z1a .  And yes, it shows the US as being "in transition".

* * *

Update 2: The US is colored yellow now, as it was supposed to be.  Thanks for all who pointed out it wasn't updated.

Called him and begged for a same-day fix. He was there by noon when he first said he probably wouldn't be able to make it at all since it was the hottest week of the year so far. He offered a fix that was reasonable and not a replacement like other companies would have. He also called back later to check. The guy is honest and provides good service in return for word-of-mouth referrals...and he gets them! I will always call Sam instead of the big-box providers who only want to get you on a not-needed maintenance contract so they can sell you more stuff!

Awesome pizza. Obviously, all of the ingredients were fresh, high quality and home-made. Service was standard. Chef/Owner provided personal touch with delivery of a complimentary dough crisp dessert and a shot of his home-made Lemon cello. The atmosphere was pretty basic, but nice. Small restaurant with bar seating. Open kitchen so you can watch the magic happen. Overall, I think I will be back a couple times while I am visiting Phoenix.

Pasta is homemade and excellent. Food is really good, fresh and homemade. You barely know that you are in a strip mall. Price is expensive for the area, but not if you were in a larger city. Gellato is good. The singing waiter adds some entertainment.

Decent seafood, although not a large selection of it. Great waterside deck and bar with awesome views and breezes. UPDATED: Food went from a Good rating to Poor rating as I got sick the morning after. Disappointing.

Great little local course. Don't expect a PGA course and facility. If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive local course to play on this is the top course in the area. Oh, and the name tells you about the course play. This is my top choice for a quick weekend round.
