As this Snowden narrative plays out, keep this in mind:
By pressing charges of espionage against him, Edward Snowden had no choice but to flee to countries that will not cooperate with the United States. This is the only move he had available, to prevent his inevitable extradition (and torture, aka "enhanced interrogation techniques").
"Espionage is defined as securing information and turning it over to the enemy. Snowden took information from the US Government and gave it to American people. Does that mean that the current administration views the American people as the enemy?"
If this were espionage, he would have sold the information to some nefarious country, and sailed off on a yacht, identity never revealed.
