Loving your little stool, and the story as well. Having recently lost my mother, I now am in the same position. She had so many pieces of furniture that were nice, but rather outdated, but so filled with memories of her. So, I have been taking each piece and re-inventing it using paints and stains and vintage wallpapers. So they still remind me of her every day, but in a fresh way.
