While the Assistive Tech Fair was a total dud. I got to catch up with an old family friend. And it was like the universe was talking directly to me. You see I've been thinking about a new wheelchair off and on for a while now. Well the Universe has told me I need to think way more seriously about it.
The old family friend my mom and I just happened to run into at the fair was the sister of man responsible for my Osteogenesis Imperfecta diagnosis. Tommy, the man with OI, was a young boy when I was born. The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me but Tommy's aunt was an OB nurse and recognized all the signs of OI in me. The major clue being all of the broken bones I had. Tommy's aunt working on the day I was born had to have been the Universe.
Tommy and his family were like the beta testers for my family. Every wheelchair, only 2 so far, I've ever had Tommy had first and his mom, Lu, would call my mom and tell her this was the chair I need. The call always results in a trip to their house to see it in action.
Fast forward to yesterday when Monica, Tommy's sister, saw us. She told us Tommy got a new Permobil just before 4th of July. She said we should be expecting a call from Lu any time! She described the chair and I'm pretty certain it's the model I've had my eye on!!! He has it in Titan Blue. I want it in Pop Star Pink!
