Well, yesterday didn't go as well as we had hoped, but at least we didn't leave empty handed. We managed to get 5th in chicken.

Tomorrow we're heading out to Terrell, TX for their annual Heritage Jubilee. For tomorrow, we're going to be remembering what the Bible has to say about BBQ.

Exodus 12:9 NLT
Do not eat any of the meat raw or boiled in water. The whole animal—including the head, legs, and internal organs—must be roasted over a fire.

Now of course this verse is about the first passover, but we'll still go with it.

Well, the BBQ comp is over and out of 54 teams we managed to pull away with a 3rd in ribs, 6th in chicken, and 16th in beans. No call in brisket, but 3 out of 4 categories ain't too shabby. We'll post more pictures later. Missing from the picture is Rudy. He left as soon as the awards were over.

Since BBQ Crawl Season 2 starts tonight, thought it would be nice to share this pic of +Danielle Dimovski of Diva Q and Ernest Servantes of Burnt Bean Co. with our very own +Andrew n Amber Cordova. This was taken at the Bedford Blues and BBQ festival last year. It was extremely hot that day! #BBQCrawl

Sharing the love of Christ while cooking up some awesome BBQ!
Introduction
We are a competitive BBQ cooking team based out of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex that started cooking for competitions in 2010. We love doing this as a hobby since we all have full time jobs, and though it can get kind of expensive at times, it is so much fun!

The Saga

Andrew Cordova got his first smoker in 2008 and the first thing he wanted to cook on it was a brisket. With some experience in grilling, he had no experience in smoking any kind of meat. He did a lot of research on the web and got a lot of tips from his Youth Pastor, Hector, back home in the Rio Grande Valley, on how to cook a brisket. Let's just say the first time wasn't the greatest. But after a few practices he got pretty good. He started watching some BBQ shows on TV and thought how he'd love to start a team just for fun. He spoke with his wife's uncle, Bart, about the idea and right away he agreed on the thought. That's when the idea of The Marinators was conceived.

Andrew did more research on which leagues they could enter, what the rules were, and where the events were being hosted. After kinda knowing which event he wanted to attend, Andrew told his wife, Amber, about the idea and she was so supportive!! Andrew had decided on the event and decided he was going to be in charge of the brisket, Bart the ribs, his father in-law Romain the chicken, and his brother in-law Rudy the timekeeper. The only thing missing was the team name. After much brainstorming, Romain mentioned The Marinators. The name stuck.

After doing the first event, The Marinators thought they should start entering in the Beans category too, so in 2011 they brought in Amber's uncle Paul.
