Very disappointing to see Cuomo backtrack because of pressure. If you take the discussion from a purely economical perspective -- discounting completely the human rights issues -- you'd reduce long run incarceration costs. By diminishing current 60% recidivism rate and more cheerily re-allocate the 5:1 imprisonment to education ratio additional funds would be freed up for successful activities such as universal pre-k, which in and of itself would further reduce incarceration rates by an undefined amount... When will we put all of our interests into perspective? Life isn't always fair and there will be a tradeoff with this approach which not everyone will agree with; however, we need to address our incarceration infatuation and chance the dialogue holistically.

1.7 Zetabytes in 4 grams of DNA; that's all the digital information that existed in the world in 2011. And, it could be stored in 4 grams. I need a mop because my face just melted off.

This video nicely encapsulates the work I have been doing with criminal justice reform for the past six months. Please take a look and consider taking action. The argument is sensible both socially and economically on a broad scale.
