A little over-simplified and quite generalized...but otherwise amusing.

Hokay. My vandgrift.com domain is now set up for G+, and so I've moved everything over there WHERE IT SHOULD BE. Drop me a line over there, I'll keep this around for another week, then strip it down.

Decided on a solution for the lighting above my desk. Currently, there are three track-lighting style lamps attached to a circular fixture in the ceiling. They are ugly and boring. They will be replaced by nine small pendant lamps whose position and lengths correspond to points on the fibonacci spiral.

So: 1", 1", 2", 3", 5", 8", 13", 21", 34" down from a translucent panel hanging 10" from the ceiling, traced with the aforementioned spiral (example: http://library.thinkquest.org/27890/media/fibonacciSpiralBoxes.gif ). With a 10' ceiling, this puts the lowest hanging lamp 66" from the floor, in a position 76" from the floor, plenty high enough for most folks (+Jim Van Fleet notwithstanding) to pass under unhindered.

I feel good about this.

I'm with Jesse... I didn't expect this from you and was confused as I thought I knew better as well... Then a day later I clicked and read your comment, because of Jesse's post.

Whew....

Wow, thanks for sharing that. I've seen a beautiful, high-quality photo of that chest, and have always wished for a video that showed how the hinged parts moved and what was behind them.

I'm learning a lot of people's names, where previously I knew only their @s, thanks to G+.

One nice thing about having a nickname like Jorah is that I can use it as my online name everywhere, too. Of course, there are a few people whose given name is Jorah who may not be as happy about my signing up for half the new social networks on the 'nets.
