PATHWAYS TO PUBLISHING - I'll be giving a workshop this Saturday.

There are more options than ever to consider in the pursuit of publishing a book. Jill Swenson provides an insider’s guide to new - and the tried and true - avenues for authors. She’ll explain why you should not self-publish, the importance of distribution to your book’s success, why you can’t get an agent to represent your work, and the dangers of crossing the line in the sand between Amazon and the publishing industry. She’ll introduce you to publishing business models beyond the traditional commercial trade press – subsidy, non-profit, cooperative, crowd-sourced, and independents. There is no one route right for every author. If you’re looking to get on the right path toward publication of your book manuscript, this workshop is for you.

Jill Swenson is President, CEO, and Executive Book Development Editor at Swenson Book Development LLC. With a Ph.D. from The University of Chicago, 20 years of teaching, editing, and coaching non-fiction writers, Jill is an author’s advocate. First and foremost, she loves books. She recently moved from Ithaca, NY, to Appleton, WI, with her dog Daisy.

When: October 10, 2015. 1 - 4 p.m.

Where: Pizza King 800 East Wisconsin Avenue (corner of Meade St. and Wisconsin Ave.)

Cost: $55 (non-members) $49.50 (Mill members)
