The food movement requires us to go further than "buying local" - we need to become actively engaged citizens in our government, at the state and federal level. Call your legislators and get to know them!

Last week, in response to a complaint, the Texas Department of State Health Services suspended a farmer’s raw milk license because of a private drop point. In order to get his license back, he had to agree not to do any more drop points. His customers have to drive out to the farm each and every time they want some milk. This problem is repeated for thousands of families all over the state. We need to change the law to protect raw milk farmers and to ensure that consumers who want raw milk can access it!

Keep franken-fish off your plate! Tell the FDA to not approve genetically engineered salmon.
The FDA could approve GE salmon soon if we don't take action now. A 60-day public comment period (ending this month) is all that stands between GE salmon and your plate. Tell the FDA NOT to approve GE salmon: http://fwwat.ch/UKGNRa

“These bills provide important reforms,” explains Judith McGeary, founder and Executive Director of the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA).  “While demand for local foods is growing exponentially, farmers can’t keep up with that demand, in part because of the regulatory barriers that have been developed by and for the conventional food system.” #rawmilk   #realmilk   #realfood   #localfood
