Good for you!
Dr Kost is on the DCP Medical MJ board and his view is that narcotic doses will be lower, and that both (narcotics & mj) can be prescribed together.
In other words, they work great together for those in chronic pain, like me.

I have a 4 level cervical fusion. 5 years later and now I have neural foriminal narrowing on levels C-2 - C-6 + C-7 & T-1 have a subluxation, that is super sharp pain, and spurring on the same levels where the narrowing is.
My left shoulder is now dropping and popping and grinding. I have severe headaches up the back of my skull. I sit in a reclining chair all day long., Riding a bike or even swimming, are things I did in the past. They aggravate it now to the point, of me just being worn out from enduring this so long! 20mg of oxycodone BID masks the pain a little. My osteopath is helpful, but his relief only lasts a couple of days now.
What could I do at this point? That 4 level fusion was tough to recover from.

I had L-4-5 back surgery, that led to bursitis and then terrible S-I joint pain, I tried everything including acupuncture and a gifted osteopath. They both helped with zero side effects, Insurance will not pay for either. I had shots for 10 years. The osteopath then cured it in 5 minutes with his hands! 3 years and no flare up.
The epidural pain relief, lasted 3 weeks at best, Then they tried radio frequency oblation. I could not walk for a month. I did get a year of relief, but the agony of the procedure, combined with the post procedure pain, is something I cannot endure again. There are no clinical trials for radio frequency either.
Just say no to needles~

My 2 level ACDF in 2007, not only did not fuse, it fell apart! Instead of ordering a CT scan he ordered and MRI which did not show the "wiggly screws" and "popped off titanium plate". Hardware interferes with the view so a CT scan is the only way to see broken hardware. Lucky I kept complaining and I ended up at UCONN, where this was all discovered. I also needed the 2 levels above the first ACDF fused, after removing the first broken fusion. 4 levels were fused in 2010 and so far, so good. I called his office to tell them all of this and nobody cares and I never heard from him again.

Dr. Kost has been wonderful to me over the years at Bristol Hospital and then Blue Back square. He has the best "bedside manner" and ALWAYS shows compassion for his patients. After all we want to be validated when we are in pain not condescended to. He is so good that it became impossible to get an appointment with Dr Kost. His assistants are ok, but they are not HIM and he is who you want. I needed radio frequency following a 4 level cervical fusion. I had chronic headaches on the left side (surgery side) My date got changed and I was dying, so, he ended up referring me to Dr Grahling,, at CT.Comprehensive Pain Management, in Plainville, CT. He also is very good, but he is not as personable as Dr Kost is. Very stoic and not responsive when things go wrong. after the 2nd RF caused me to get "spaghetti legs",for many weeks and I ended up in the ER, he was angry at me. Not sure why, because the first RF worked great. There is one nurse in Dr Kosts office who is the most rude thing out there. Everyone says it not just me. She is a snippy, rude, witch who has zero compassion for someone that works in a PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINIC. Dr. Kost needs to get rid of her vibe, because it is not at all helpful, needed or wanted, I wish I could remember her name. She has no business working around people. Little wretch. I read the other review about someone having a bad result from an ESI, and then kicked out for having marijuana in their urine test. Dr. Kost sits on the DCP Medical Marijuana Board. As long as a person has been issued a medical mj card, legally, there is no foundation, to "kick" anyone out of any pain mgmt clinic. . That is pretty hypocritical at best & Dr Kost should walk the walk. Does Dr Kost recommend medical mj & prescribe narcotics, like he advocates? I have it in writing from a 2015 DCP board meeting. Those shots over time, just wear off. I got them for over 10 years and I am done. I even tried the pain pump trial. Not a fan of those wires pulling out just for tying my shoe. I am anti-injection now. That is why I TRIED the medical mj program. Nobody wants to prescribe actual pain medication any more. Plus, who can afford those pricey urine screenings, every (3) months"? My insurance will not pay for them that often claiming; "not medically necessary". People in chronic pain, are looked down on, judged and dismissed. January 2016 I ended up listening to Dr Kosts advice, (waiting for artificial discs) made an appointment to see Dr Aferzon, who ordered a new MRI of my lumbar spine. In 10 days, WC approved a 360 degree lumbar fusion with 2 artificial discs to be implanted, where L-4&5 collapsed. I had the worst spurring and every disc was bulging and I had "too many tears to count." I am here t say, that the surgery was a SUCCESS, no more rods and screws people! These artificial discs invented by Dr Joseph Aferzon, are amazing. Middlesex hospital is the place to go and get your LIFE BACK. Thank you Dr Kost for your sound advice to wait as long as I could to get the fusion, "because better things are to come".~

His interns and staff have been nothing but hard working and wonderful to me. I had a problem after an uncharged, PRETTY, 22 year old drunk driver ran me off the road. I was able to avoid directly smashing into her, as I yanked my wheel to the right and broad slided on 91north, as her car spun in circles across 4 lanes. My attorney was like the trooper,. Smitten with her sleezy outfits and unbuttoned shirt., He granted her "indemnity" and left ME with a LIEN on our home and I lost my healthcare for the cervical fusion. Senator Blumenthals office, called my insurances and they got my care restored! UCONN started calling me for appointments, after I had waited for over 10 months! HE walks the walk when it comes to the people of this state. I am glad I volunteered to help get him elected to the senate. He is my favorite senator.

He is part of the grievance committee. They dismiss what will incriminate their colleague's. Apparently, crossing out information on affidavits, is acceptable. So are undated documents without any signature. Who wants an attorney that think's that is acceptable? He was rude to me on the phone, before the attorney even responded.

I LOVE going here for any testing, like MRI, CT scan, bone density or blood work. Its close and I can get the results in a day or two. Everyone is always nice and its immaculate. For blood work, nobody can touch their staff. I NEVER even feel a needle at all. I found out, that even if your doctor gives you a blood work slip that says "Quest", you do NOT have to go there! They hire mean people and the place is a dump. I am surprised the health dept does not shut that filthy lab down. (the one in Manchester I am talking about) Manchester Hospital is the ONLY place that does not torture your arm to get a blood sample. As far as the ER goes, its a whole other story. I am going to focus on the positive aspects right now.

What a waste of time and paper. They read what they want and ignore what the complaint is about. Attorneys policing their colleagues is not a fair committee.'

I LOVED getting my hair done here! Courtney rocked my roots and low-lights. It was my go-to salon,w here I always left feeling like a million bucks, without paying it. The last time I went in, was a month after my surgery, to get my dead ends trimmed. Courtney was busy and it was a walk-in day for haircuts, so I took the next available stylist. She and another worker, were speaking negatively about Courtney, right in front of me! I was so taken aback that I could not help but make KAYLA know, that I adore Courtney and she did my hair before my spinal surgery. She then was rude to me, the rest of the hair cut. Plus, I asked for "wispy bangs", but she "blunt" cut them, in various choppy lengths. It looks terrible. I gave her a tip anyway, and KAYLA did not say, thank you, have a nice day or anything! Sorry COST CUTTERS. But based on the bad vibes and the unprofessional behavior and actions, of this particular worker, I am moving on. This was kind of meant to be. (me showing up Courtneys last day) Now I am following her to her new location. Cost Cutters lost a great stylist who is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. The four stars are earned because of Courtney and Michele (Michelle does the BEST perms ever!)
