Dr. Michitsch and I saw the recent stories about the $66,000 in unpaid lunch balances within the Washoe County School District and we made the decision to support these children and make a donation to a local elementary school to help alleviate some of that debt.
Today we dropped off a check for $500 to Westergard Elementary and asked them to apply it toward their $1,953 in student lunch balances. We know that if left unpaid, these would become another burden on the school district and we'd rather see that money be used to keep teachers in classrooms.
We're asking other local businesses to consider making a donation as well.

Many vision benefits and flexible spending accounts (FSA) offer benefits that expire at the end of every year. If you don't use them, you’ll lose them! In most cases, unused benefits cannot be transferred over to the New Year, typically beginning on January 1st.
Most insurance plans entitle you to a comprehensive eye examination and either a pair of quality eyeglasses or an allowance that goes towards contact lenses each year. Have you taken advantage of these basic benefits this year? If you are not sure of the date of your last appointment at EyeZone, call us at 775-323-4391 and we can look it up for you. #EyeZone #UseItOrLoseIt
