We have some cooling issues that may or may not be resolved in our normal meeting space. I am choosing to delay this months meeting till July 28th. So we can still do Moon day on the 21st and meet the week after for our normal stuff.  Sorry for any plans this changes, I do not want 20 guys/gals stuffed into a hot room.  We will have someone there to meet any one that did not get this memo.

At next months meeting Dick Swan has volunteered to give a overview of robotc along with its new capabilities of working with Arduinos and some new connectivity options. He will cover it working with VEX controller, NXT and the Arduino. This should be a exciting talk as this is one of the most used Compilers for micro-controllers. The meeting will take place March 10th around noon. If you have any thing to show and tell please bring it as we should have extra time to show off your recent work. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

New +TurtleBot base looks like a step in the right direction. It is black so it has to be better. :>

This months meeting will take place April 14th. It starts around noon like always. This month we will introduce the Willow Garage +TurtleBot donated to the +DPRG. We will need to come up with a name. Feel free to send your ideas in response to this. We will review quite a few things about the hardware platform and the software platform as I have found out through its use it will be a general talk and demonstration meeting. If you have anything to bring in and show feel free as I think we will have plenty of time to do so. After the meeting i would like to gather the roborama gang together so we can finish up talks about the next roborama and roborama 2012b.

Thanks,
Jason

The courses and rules for Roborama 2012a
Full Rules here http://tinyurl.com/RoboRama2012a

Overview
Roborama 2012a will be run entirely indoors. There will be an indoor version of RoboColumbus.

The event will begin at noon on Saturday May 12 at <TBD location/address>.

Summary of Changes for Roborama 2012a
The following significant rules changes from Roborama 2011b are made. See the complete rules below for details.

RoboColumbus
RoboColumbus will be held inside, with as long a course as we can make. Contestants may substitute their own target for the supplied 18” cone, as long as it is approximately the same size. Robots MUST stop at the cone, or close to it. The criteria used to determine contest results is the distance between the closest part of the autonomously stopped robot and the cone. Robots which don’t stop will be disqualified.

Line Following
3-PI robots are allowed to compete in the advanced class.

Square Dance
Robots must navigate around a 6’ square course instead of the 8’ square course used in past competitions. This change is to facilitate conducting the contest on two courses simultaneously.

TableBot
The block will be placed by the judge in the middle third (both length and width) of the table. It will be in the same location for all contestants.

Vex Contest
There will not be a separate “Vex Open” like Roborama 2012a. Instead, there will be a prize for “Best use of Vex gear in a Robot”. It will be awarded after all contests are done. All robots which compete and contain Vex gear will be eligible.

Only 2 months to go. Start tuning those robots.
