US Prosecutors charge Iranian military operative in ‘Game of Thrones’ hack
US prosecutors have charged an Iranian national with hacking into cable TV network HBO and stealing episodes and plot summaries for unaired programs including “Game of Thrones,” then threatening to release the data unless he was paid $6 million.
Behzad Mesri, also known as “Skote Vahshat,” was charged with the hack in a sealed indictment that was released on Tuesday by the US Attorney’s office in Manhattan.
Prosecutors said Mesri had worked on behalf of Iran’s military to attack military systems, nuclear software systems and Israeli infrastructure.
Hariri from Beirut: I will continue serving Lebanon's stability
Lebanese PM Saad Hariri spoke from central Lebanon after his return to his homeland on Wednesday.
Hariri confirmed to the Lebanese people: "I'm staying with you and will continue with you" to hundreds of supporters gathered outside his home.
Saad al-Hariri retracted his resignation as Lebanese Prime Minister earlier in a speech on Wednesday.
Hariri said the resignation was on hold pending talks with President Michel Aoun.
He had been attending Independence Day celebrations in Beirut after returning to Lebanon for the first time since resigning as prime minister in a broadcast from Saudi Arabia earlier this month. He had cited fears over his safety as the reason behind his resignation.
Earlier, he stood alongside Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at a military parade in central Beirut.
Is SAP executive resignation linked to Iran dealings?
SAP is investigating sales practices in its Gulf region after executives in charge of its dealings in the region had resigned or been put on administrative leave, the German business software giant said on Wednesday.
SAP operates in more than 180 countries, selling business planning software that many of the world’s top multinationals rely on to manage their far-flung business operations. It is a big supplier of corporate compliance software.
A source familiar with the matter said the departures in the Gulf region were connected to dealings in Iran but provided no further details.
