Sometimes I ask myself why humanity can be so cruel to push others into such inhumane conditions.

The proud and the humble.

The world and God.

Today’s Gospel brings us to Christ’s second revelation of his passion, death and resurrection (first was in Mark 8:27-38) as per the narrative of St. Mark.

We are reminded of the very core of Christ’s existence, and that is the love of God for us, for all of us, unworthy we may be.

Lechon (roasted pork), P700/kilo
Henry's Lechon House
Don Manuel Banzon St., Balanga, Bataan

From the looks of the place, it seems that they have been in the business for a while, the reason, perhaps, why their lechon tastes amazing, although their homemade sauce does make a difference.

Aside from lechon, they also serve home cooked dishes, many uses lechon as its main ingredient, like the lechon paksiw (P120 per serve) and the lechon sinigang (P100 per serve). But in addition to lechon-based dishes, they also have seafood and poultry dishes.

My reflection on today's gospel (John 16:16-20)

"We grieve, yet we rejoice, because we know, that in the death of Christ, there is salvation; in the death of self, there is redemption."

Fajardo's Lagoon and Floating Restaurant
Pagasa, Bagac, Bataan
The place is nice, very quaint, breezy, and relaxing. But apart from that, well, the food is not that extraordinary and definitely it does not justify its price. Perhaps, here, we are literally paying for the place rather than the food. In this visit I ordered inihaw na pusit, which the waiter recommended as their best seller, lechon kawali, and sizzling chicken inato.

Inihaw na Pusit, P250/250gms
Too sweet and a bit leathery. It's not the best I've tasted and definitely the taste does not justify the price.

Lechon Kawali, P100/250gms
Well, I did order 250 grams but it does look and feel like less than that. The meat is very dry.

Sizzling Chicken Inato, P100 (single serve)
Fried chicken on a sizzling plate that doesn't sizzle and floating on gravy that is too greasy.

Marre's Kitchen
Gov. J.J. Linao National Road
Alauli, Pilar, Bataan

The place is quite comfortable. It is a cafeteria type restaurant, with dishes displayed on a counter, although they also have items that's cooked per order like bulalo.

They are open for lunch to dinner from Monday to Sunday.
