Wet Paint Events Looking for a creative engagement to amuse and satisfy your guests? Need a fund raiser for your organization or cause? You provide the food and venue we provide the instructor and materials. Ms. Boyd will guide the group through painting an image of your choice. Tinkering for Makers is an immersive hands-on exploration into the "essential art of composing and decomposing physical things to suit a variety of purposes--from practical to whimsical. Tinkering is both a manual and mental labor..." (Dale Dougherty, Editor & Publisher of Make Magazine) and for some a passion. To discover and rediscover their capacity to tinker and make, participants will be encouraged to meaningfully explore actual objects and interactions with real things and real people. This program intends to stimulate the problem solving minds of 10 to 17 year olds, who wish to indulge in this process on an on-going basis. It will begin on August 23 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Credo Studio, No. 1 Polk Street. The cost for these sessions is $20 as a single drop in, or The number of participants for this program will be limited, so it is advisable to sign up in advance to secure a spot. The fees will be $15 per session or $54 for 4 consecutive sessions paid in advance. There may be additional materials fees, depending upon the chosen project of the participant.
This program will be facilitated by Darlene Boyd, a credentialed teacher. She has always enjoyed the art of exploring materials and applying them in innovative ways, as well as sharing these experiences with others. This love led her pursue visual arts in college, where she received a BFA with Honors, majoring in sculpture. STE-Art-M (Visual Arts for Homeschoolers+) sessions will be launched on August 21-25 from 9-11 a.m. for 4th grade to adult. These classes cover the visual arts components of color, form, line, shape texture, and value. They may be two-or three-dimensional, descriptive, implied, or abstract. Participants will be guided to apply creative problem solving processes to science, social studies, math, and literacy. Participants may be encouraged to work in small multi-aged groups to research, create, revise and competently present their explorations. Fees for these classes will be $130 per participant for each 4 week session, payable in advance. Materials fees will also apply to specific classes on an as needed basis.
