I miss the 80s for the simple things... For instance, in the 80s, if I was coaching a 4-year-olds' soccer team by myself and my two kids starting wrestling on the sidelines unbeknownst to me as I tried to encourage 2 of the 8 kids to be confident and chase the ball, Parents Would Say Something or Tell Them to STOP! Don't get me wrong; they got in trouble once I found out and I dealt with it (non-physically even.) But seriously?! No "Hey coach! You're kids are fighting" or better yet, "Hey kids, stop fighting!" Honestly, I would have understood if one of them physically pulled them apart. Instead, I was embarrassed and appalled both for their behavior and the lack of intervention. I found out when my daughter was crying because one of the blows finally hurt. Do I sound awful for ignoring them and coaching one of their teams? Am I a bad mother because I can't coach and entertain them at the same time? Maybe it was simply foolish of me to think the elder could sit and cheer on team while I coached alone this week. Yeah, maybe that.
