The new standards test is now in force. All driving instructors must now start to offer Client Centred Learning which is almost identical to the Student Centred Learning that LDC has been offering for over 20 years now. To help all driving instructors in the UK LDC is now offering the opportunity to attend our New Client Centred Learning workshop to help you precisely understand what the DVSA are looking for and provide a programme of learning to help you develop a client centred approach in your training. Funding is also available see below for details:

DVSA announcement 7th April 2014:
The approved driving instructors (ADI) standards check replaces the check test from today (7 April 2014). The standards check assesses how well you meet the ‘National standard for driver and rider training’. Its aim is to assess your ability to instruct and whether your instruction helps a person to learn in an effective way. The standards check is conducted with a driving examiner observing you delivering a normal 1 hour lesson. Further guidance is published on GOV.UK

Thomas a Becket High School - Road Safety day 9th July 2014
Over 150 youngsters got the opportunity to see live demonstrations and attend a series of discussion workshops - all designed to help build awareness of the risks and dangers of driving. Bob Morton (LDC Centre Manager) did a highly interactive discussion workshop to explore specifically why young drivers are at risk and what might be done to help reduce that risk.

The students at Thomas a Becket's High School were a credit to their parents and the school - polite, attentive, responsive and engaging. The teaching staff headed by Tim Whitney  also made the day very special and we were made to feel extremely welcome.

The credit for organising the day and bringing all the various organisations together is down to the determination and hard work of PC Laura Robinson motivated by a tragic road traffic crash last year in her area.

We hope the students learned as much as we did from the event, it was very useful to us to have these conversations with the young drivers of tomorrow, and we feel that we can use the feedback gained to develop even better tuition systems and techniques to win the hearts and minds of what will hopefully be the safer drivers of tomorrow.
