Genome surgery for AMD treatment using Cas9 RNPs: goo.gl/yxVnd2. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of blindness in adults, which is associated with retinal overexpression of the VEGFA gene. A study published in Genome research revealed that Subretinal injection of Vegfa-RNPs into the eyes of a mouse model with wet AMD could effectively modified the VEGF gene. GenScript’s CRISPR Cas9/gRNA RNP service, provides Cas9 protein and customized synthetic crRNA for any target, will help to accelerate your research: goo.gl/uDT4Uv

S. aureus to MRSA: Bacteria survives body's immune defenses through the use of a secondary SOD enzyme
The body first starves the bacteria of manganese, and then uses the oxidative burst as a kind of finishing blow, eliminating the bacteria and preventing infection. The scientists associated with this study discovered that the reason why S. aureus is so good at turning into MRSA is because of its possession of two SOD enzymes. goo.gl/dA5CeN

Smoothening the coding sequence for translation: goo.gl/rWM6Ts. Using yeast genetics and genome-wide ribosome profiling analyses, Jungfleisch et al. show that Dhh1 promotes translation initiation of a subset of mRNAs that form structures in their coding sequence. The results uncover a novel layer of translational control that involves RNA helicases and RNA folding within CDS providing novel opportunities for expression regulation of target proteins.
