50 MILLION BEERS seek solace and shelter from NSW police bullets flying (mostly at each other right now) and gangs of obese robocops flipping kids at train stations around Sydney to stir the simmering tar pot and ruffle up the feathers for the doomed Pentecostal snake church tent show that is the NSW LNP Govt at SHADY PINES , 4/256 Crown St Darlo, on Sunday 15 Feb from 6 PM. Free as. See youse there .

Looks like my GeForce GTX 285 made it through the upgrade, now running 3.13.0-37-generic, with the new Nvidia drivers and things are OK so far.

Every thing is looking good with Rebecca. Tried most of my fave stuff and it all goes. Music player no longer appears in the task bar?
Got sick of Clementine not behaving with certain icon sets so Banshee is filling that spot better than it has previously.
Banshee started stuttering so I updated to the latest Clementine unstable :-) - icons in the menus are still messed up but it plays every thing with no stuttering etc.

NOTE: IF you have Nooblabs mintx-colors-gtk-theme installed remove it before updating to 17.1

Thanks for the help, updated to 17.1 today with only minor issues.
All the basics seem to work.
Hoping that Nemo will stop crashing so often.

How would I proceed from this point to update to #Mint 17.1
Is the some instruction page that I could follow?

Should I install the Systemd and linux firmware stuff first?
Or just do a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade?

+Pod Kalambur So did I and they all work after updating.
I changed my desktop icons etc all to mint-x for the upgrade and I only had one error, I had to remove a nooblabs package and after this the update completed and everything was fine.
Wine works, MS Word works. GIMP boots faster!

Apart from G+ behaving like a snail on mandrax, Lollipop has been great on my Nexus 10, Chrome browser now works without hanging every other page load, which is fantactic.
All the apps I use frequently are working fine.
Update: removed g+ updates. Rebooted the device and updated g+ and all is working OK with g+ now.

Saturday, November 22, 2014 01:51 PM [Pacific Standard Time]  I know everyone has a slightly different experience but for me, the update worked perfectly.  Tablet is faster and smoother than before.  Wifi, everything is working as it was before.  Seamless.. no problems.  Incidentally, I had a problem before with the update to Kitkat.  I had Samsung service flash it (had to mail it to Texas)- then worked like brand new.  Did not have to re-flash this time.  The Samsung flash made all the difference.  I believe that people who are having problems with the update need to re flash the software on their device restoring to factory settings, then then update works well.

Gov denied there was a hunger strike, just as they denied asylum seekers had been attacked last year. And now they expect us to believe "food and water continue to be available". They say "normal services and supplies in certain areas of the centre have been affected by the disruptive behaviour of some transferees. Normal services are ready to resume in those areas as soon as the situation allows," he said. WHAT BULLSHIT! How does a peaceful hunger strike force the disconnection of running water and the internet?
Asylum seekers at the Manus Island detention say they are prepared to die and donate their organs to Australians.

No doubt about it Rebecca rocks. I updated easily from Qiana despite having a heavily modified setup.

And, maybe, it's just the best desktop to date period. I'm beginning to think so.
Summary:The new version of Mint may be the best Linux desktop ever. Heck, it maybe the best desktop operating system ever, period.

This maybe Turla
"Although Linux variants from the Turla framework were known to exist, we haven't seen any in the wild yet.
This specific module appears to have been put together from public sources with some added functionality from the attackers. Some of the malicious code appears to be inactive, perhaps leftovers from older versions of the implant. Perhaps the most interesting part here is the unusual command and control mechanism based on TCP/UDP packets, as well as the C&C hostname which fits previously known Turla activity."

When starting Chromium I often get a message saying 'Launch this new application?' when I have installed nothing.
This one is for C&C but they change.

Mint 17.1 Cinnamon, also happened with Qiana
