Menu
Overlooking Central Park, the BG Restaurant is an intimate conversational setting for lunch, tea and early supper or martinis and caviar. The light menu is a modern take on classic New York fare.

Came here for afternoon tea on a Saturday. The tea service is from 3 to 5 daily. The cafe is on the 7th floor of the department store and has beautiful views overlooking central park. The interior is very art deco-all light blue and white, with lots of mirrors. If you can, ask to sit in one of the round chairs by the window. Everyone was very dressed up, lots of women in beautiful jewelry and scarves. They have a nice selection of teas from Dammann Freres. I had the Earl Grey, which was perfect. My friend had the Jardin Bleu, which was on the fruitier side. Tea is $38/pp.The tea consists of sandwiches-cucumber, egg salad, smoked salmon, etc, scones and assorted pastries, macarons, and cookies. I do not like tea sandwiches so they gave some more scones to compensate, which was nice. The scones were sweeter than what I am used to. There was clotted cream, honey, and 2 different types of jams-I believe apricot and strawberry. I think the pastries were the strongest part of the tea. The service was a bit delayed, but they apologized, and were nice about refilling the tea and accommodating other requests. Overall, the atmosphere is what makes it so special.

Enjoyed this location for a special teenagers birthday afternoon treat with the parents. Reserved on Opentable so we could get the time we wanted and we got a premium window seat allocated which was nice. Staff organised a very tasty banana parfait (free of charge) with one candle for the birthday girl and parents enjoyed the Veuve Cliquot that was served with our petit fours. Good view of 5th and Central Park from the window seats

The super expensive store has been here for almost a century, or maybe more. It is interesting to go visit even if you cannot afford to buy anything. The service is impeccable. Fun for a visit. Sometimes you might find an item on sale, which is priced within a normal range.
