What an idiot!  I don't think he was quite expecting that to happen.
And that is how you get cancer kiddies.

Superb! I loved my HTC one as well and strongly considering the M8 now too. Will probably grab the developer edition. Just so I get to try sense. Then if not a fan will convert to the GPE.

A Week with HTC ONE M8

A long long time ago, I was a HTC Fanboy.  I wouldn't look at a device unless those three letters graced the battery cover.  Then the Thunderbolt came and with it my loyalty to HTC went.  Fast forward to last year when the HTC One M7 was released.

I was too proud to eat crow so I skipped the M7, instead spending time with Samsung and Motorola; however, when it came to form factor, I was secretly jealous of those rocking the One.  Let me just say, my HTC boycott is officially over!  After only a few days with the new One M8 for Verizon Wireless, I now hold all other handset manufacturers to a new standard when it comes to build quality.

This, hands down, is the prettiest, most well put together piece of modern tech that I have set my eyes fingers hands . . . let's just say, until you experience the M8 personally, you can't truly understand what how amazing the M8 really is.

The phone?  Solid.  The fit and finish?  Perfect.  In your hand?  Glorious!

Compared to "other" phones out there that "claim" to be high end, the One looks and feels top notch, the new snapdragon 801 processor is a beast, and the 1080p Super LCD is outstanding.  Big adjectives for a device packing large amounts of awesome.

This is my first time back to HTC Sense in a long while.  The older versions were pretty but clunky and memory intensive.  Sense 6.0 feels very minimalistic and for the most part I really like what HTC has done here.  For those who are not Android Purists, you will immediately feel right at home.

The device allows for plenty of user customization of both the home screens and the dock, as well as the quick toggles in the drop down shade.  There are no annoying persistent notifications, albeit, the occasional Wireless Network Available message which is dismissible.  The settings menu is pretty standard and looks very similar to unskinned Android.

At no time did the device lag or feel choppy.  It crushed through everything I threw at it, multitasking like a well oiled machine.  If you are an HTC Fanatic, there is no question in my mind that you absolutely need this device!   If you made it this far, reading what I have typed, I'm actually surprised that you haven't got up, grabbed your car keys, and headed to your local VZW store to buy it already.

For those who have been loyal to the other big names, LG, Samsung, Moto, and Nokia, I have a separate breakdown I am working on just for you.  For some, the switch from another skinned Android sub-ecosystem will be a no brainer.  For others though, the switch may be a difficult transition.  Change is one of the hardest things in life, but the build quality of this smartphone can soften the difficulty quite a bit.

Am I 100% sold and ready to jump on this as my daily driver?  I am fighting through this decision and feel very torn.  Right now, sitting by my laptop are a Galaxy S4, Moto X, and the One M8.  I digress.  This is a great opening question for the next write up.

For most, HTC Sense is not going to be the make it or break it on buying the One.  That is and will be the cameras.  So for now I leave you with this . . .  I am getting all my devices charged up for a photo comparison spree later this week, so hang in there and we can see who will win the MP Shootout.

For now, want to see more pics of the device or screenshots from the OS?  Hit these two albums:
