Food - 3 stars Service - 3 stars Ambience - 3 stars It is on the water, which was nice to sit outside and look at the boats. Good stop for lunch in the middle of doing the Freedom Trail

This Joe's is located right on the water. It is a great place to go in the summer and sit outside at the patio. They have really good nachos and cocktails. I especially love their mojitos. If you're going to go out to eat for dinner in the area, I would recommend going somewhere in the North End.

Not good at all. Hostess was rude, food was not good. Mac and cheese extremely greasy burger was way undercooked.

The prices online here differ from what they are in store. I ordered my lunch over the phone for pickup and when I got to the restaurant it was about $5 more expensive. The hostess kindly got me the manager who could not find the same menu even though I had only used google maps on my phone. They refused to adjust the price and unfortunately I walked away because I did not want to pay over $20 for cold food (I had been at the restaurant for about 10-15 minutes waiting for a decision). I emailed the GM screenshots of proof of price. I will see how they respond. Basically lost my break (was only 30 minutes) and now I have no food for the rest of my 8 hour shift.

Joe's has a wonderful setting, almost in the park and right on the water. It's the perfect spot to spend a warm summer afternoon. It's popular, so be prepared to wait especially for lunch or brunch. The menu has all items you'd expect from an American grill and the brunch food ain't bad either.

This is a sad day to have to trash the service and food at Joe's American Bar & Grill, but they need to hear how they destroyed a special evening and lost an opportunity to be lauded publicly by a restaurant guide. Until Joe's gets a better handle on managing busy shifts, I'm suggesting you limit your visits to a slow day--when they can better handle simple food orders. Last Sunday, July 14th, a busy day to be sure, the server got everything wrong with a simple order--the burger orders weren't correct, they were just barely warm and the bottom bun was soggy wet and cool from having sat too long on the counter, and the fries were literrally cool (like they'd sat out too long under a fan). Worse, if that's possible, the service wasn't just delayed--it was almost non-existent. The young woman (who won't be named--because I don't want this student to be fired (just better led by her store's management), took the order but never checked back. The burgers were delivered by other staffers who couldn't care less about the incorrect orders. Two additional times requests were made for the simple "ketchup and mustard, please?" But to no avail. The original server only returned to ask if we were ready for the check after we were given clearly sub-par dinners and service. It was unfortunate, and when I tried to explain the shortfalls, her, "We're pretty busy tonight," response left me incredulous wth the dismissive attitude. I brought all of this to the reception level manager, a nice younger man, but I believe the point was lost in translation--not a good business attitude. I'm regretful to say this is all now to be added to the upcoming travel guide as warning advisory. This particular review isn't going to be read by the masses, but it's certain to be read by the owners of Joe's American Bar & Grill. I'm making a return check in September to see if there has been any improvement--before I send out the next evaluation. All that said, and I hate writing diatribe style reviews, I think Joe's location is a perfect setting. And considering the very busy traffic, it's my sincere hope my bad experience isn't the norm--it was the one-time bad exception. I do wish them well, and I do hope they'll be a great business for all the visitors and the folks who need to stay employed in this tough economy! But this review is a caveat to their management team that writers eat there too--so please address this, and make your team stronger!! RT Long
