“Teaching controversy” is one of the commonly used phrases creationists use to argue for teaching creationism (also intelligent design) as an equally valid alternative to evolution in biology and science courses. This phrase is often used as a last-resort type of an argument from creationists – when all the sources of “scientific” arguments are exhausted, so they refrain to philosophical argument of teaching diversity, i.e. controversy, in schools. The saddest thing about this is that many schools in America actually entertain this idea and fight for this goal. Moreover, there are numerous schools that actually do teach creationism as a scientifically viable concept – which it isn’t.

"You’re so busy thinking us vs. them, that you can’t see that appropriation of culture is a way of immortalizing it. A way of keeping a little token of your home relevant to an entire planet. Every time I see someone wearing a tie, I’ll be happy. I’ll be happy because I’ll know that a little part of Croatia will always stay relevant in this world."
