When a normal muscle is at rest, it is electrically silent. Through EMG testing, our pain physicians are able to determine whether there is any irregular electric activity in the muscles. If there is irregular activity, patients may be experiencing a muscle disorder such as inflammation, dystrophy, a pinched nerve or ALS.
