Every law firm in America should get on board. It's time to face the facts - substance abuse and behavioral health issues are rampant in our industry. #attorneys #publicrelations #lawfirms #incidentresponse #behavioralhealth #substanceabuse #lawyers The Legal Intelligencer

The ABA has revised Model Rules of Professional Conduct 7.1 – 7.5 relating to lawyer advertising. It has been a long time coming; a small step in the right direction. Our industry still has much work to do to modernize rules on lawyer communications, as it often moves at a snail’s pace in a race dominated by stallions. I had the opportunity to interview some of the nation's leading experts and legal marketers on the subject. Here's what they had to say.

How does a company such as B&N allow a press release to be issued stating that the CEO was terminated for “violations of the company’s policies."? Do they not have in-house counsel or another form of QC? Did they not consult their outside counsel in advance of the release being issued? I am often asked why corporate communications and media relations policies and procedures are so important. Here is a case in point. #PR #Crisis #IncidentResponse #TrialPublicity

While it remains a valuable marketing tool, social media can be difficult to navigate. The new online way of interacting has changed the way lawyers communicate and connect with each other and with their target audiences. And in the legal community, there are a number of myths that keep attorneys from accepting the full value of social media. The purpose of this article, which I thoroughly enjoyed writing with Jennifer Simpson Carr, is to identify and debunk these myths.
