If this is true, what does it mean for a Surface Book 2?
Microsoft customers have overwhelmingly adopted the Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4, according to new data released by AdDuplex, while the pricier Surface Book garners just a small slice of market share.

Not that UWP apps are necessarily bad. But they don't offer the flexibility of traditional Win32 apps, either.
Virtually all of the games Microsoft launched during its E3 presentation will be UWP apps that you can play on the PC or Xbox One. The catch is, Microsoft will control everything, meaning no mods or tweaks in the grand PC-gaming tradition.

So far, not good
T-Mobile's Uncarrier 11 promo fails to deliver and the company says high demand for the app is the problem.

Believable, but apparently untrue.
Sources close to Microsoft say that a report claiming it's eliminating all opt-out options from the Windows 10 upgrade is not accurate.

tte I Dunno...some software is better than others. Having said that, there is very little freeware that is of any value to me and MS windows is a fucking travesty. I came accross my computer a couple days ago and its INSTALLING win 10....WTF...I had gone and bought a win7pro OEM 2 months ago, being tired tired of cracked and otherwise pirated software and having no time whatso ever for win 10, that was my choice. I also uninstalled the known "update" that the MS greaseballs were using to force the issue. I don't like pushy people and especially do not like pushy software that I theoretically own. stopped in at my local comp store today to buy an adapter during the course of conversation I mention the auto install of 10....my guy says he has had several machines come in -in the last few days for similar issue's but his first question is "did it damage your setup?....why yes it did thank you very much. while i aborted the install the old fashioned way (cut the power) and was able to sysrestore easily enough the damage was done and I have several registry errors to contend with.......Now back the fucken truck up!!....I just laid out 180 for a legit version from a "supposedly legit company" only to have them purposely sorta nuke the product I just paid for.. Now if these guys are so smart (LOL) it aint rocket science that a guy who just paid the going rate for an increasingly hard to obtain product instead of going with the "free" win 10 offering probably does not want the win10....in fact since the activation key is only 2 months old on a product for which MS is no longer produces activation keys for and is on life support itsproblaly safe to say he REALLY does not want it....this behavior is immoral and criminal.....what if I am unable to fix the reg and need to take my machine in to be fixed? If I bought a new car and 2 months later GM used satellite tracking to self desatruct the engine..........btw thankyou Brent Danyluk for passing on this lil gem. last night I discovered thatwin 10 waas still lurking in my computer, sucking up 6.3 gigs of mem via 22,000 files.http://www.pcworld.com/.../never10-is-a-free-app-for-when... Gibson Research

Never10 is a free app for when you absolutely, positively don't want Windows…

Skynet strikes me as a drum-and-bass type of machine.
Google's Magenta project has just released its first piece of machine-composed music. Fortunately for human composers, it's not that good. Yet.

Pretty handy, if you've ever been the person responsible for data entry
The company uses IFTTT-like recipes to help automate everyday tasks like filling out Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, with the goal of saving time (and employee sanity) within businesses.

Demoware vs a shipping product, but still
Apple is moving Siri to the Mac this fall, where the macOS Sierra release will pit Apple's digital assistant against Cortana. Microsoft is going to get a run for its money, it appears.

Kind of a shame...
Microsoft may not be killing off its plans to record live TV, but it's at least passing them over in favor of other ideas.

Figures released Thursday show that Minecraft customers have moved on from the PC -- bad news for Microsoft as it tries to reconcile its closed UWP platform with the freewheeling nature of Minecraft.
