It's been over a year since I have had a reason to minimize a window. I don't understand why people still think this is a necessary function.

I agree. The only time I minimise windows is to look at files on the desktop. Some, like +elementary, believe that it isn't even necessary to put files and stuff on the desktop, but I find myself (and newbie users) using it as a temporary place for files which have to be deleted or sent, and therefore need to be easy to reach.Mar 23, 2012
i dont use minimize button at all. why not just focus on the thing you want to work on instead of having the need to minimize what you were working upon? it is an unnecessary action which survives only because people are used to it.Mar 23, 2012
+Kumar Aatish , everyone has different workflows. Don't assume that yours is superior.Mar 23, 2012
I think that we should remove the minimise button for individual buttons. It is very confusing when certain windows (of the same application) are minimised and others are not. The solution which the recent patch provides is elegant. For single windows, click to minimise. For multiple windows, click once to Scale, a second time to minimise all windows of that application.Mar 23, 2012
+Stephen Rees-Carter agreed. but then dont you think that the vocal opposers of unity and gnome shell should reconsider their vile and caustic opinions?Mar 23, 2012
+Kumar Aatish , yep, I agree with that. Most of the time it feels like they are too busy waving their pitchforks and don't actually bother to give things a chance.
(And there are some who go out of their way to find things to complain about!)
On the 'remove minimise' topic, I would be happy to see it removed. I'd get used to it, and find a new way to do what I need. It's there now, so I use it because it's convenient, but I wouldn't quit unity if it was removed.
Incidentally, I'd take dynamic workspaces over a minimise button any day of the week :)Mar 24, 2012
