Every project I've had over the past decade has been made with his help, either through direct collaboration or guidance. For years, to see my name associated with something meant that Mike's name wasn't too far away, and vice versa. It wasn't until I became friends with him about 12 years ago that I really started to come into my own in terms of what I wanted to be doing as well as my sense of humor.
Living 3500 miles from him never seriously deterred us from helping one another on whatever we were working on at the moment, but now that I live in the same county as Mike, it's nice to see his process up close again.
A few months ago, while I was living in Florida and beginning to pack for California, he emailed me the scripts for his web series, Mermates. It was distinctly Mike, with the added polish of experience as a TV writer. No other person in the world could have written those scripts the way they were. Mike has the unique ability to create absurdity while still managing to keep things grounded and relatable.
For the past five weeks, the episodes of Mermates have been debuting every Monday, and it does not disappoint! The sixth and final episode will be posted this Monday so if you haven't had a chance to see it from the beginning yet, make sure you do:
