Would you trek across the country for a first date? Matchmaking startup The Dating Ring is offering to fly New York City women to San Francisco and Bay area men to the Big Apple, in order to bridge a gender imbalance in both cities. To fund these cross-country trips, the company has launched a Crowdtilt campaign, which, so far has raised $3,180 of its $10,000 goal.
A question you should never ask a woman? Ms. Sole, I hate to break this news to you, but it's physically obvious when someone is (or was) pregnant. Your horror that someone asked you when you were due is beyond ridiculous. I'm sure the woman meant no harm (considering it to be small talk) and was embarrassed enough to find out that you had already given birth, but you believed you had to further PURPOSEFULY chastise her because you were no longer due. Please get over yourself. Furthermore, "when are you due" isn't one of the most intimate questions nor is it rudely prying into your life. You'll recall that your "due date" will be publicly recorded on your child's birth certificate, will be celebrated each year (usually very publicly), and will appear on your child's driver's license. I can't tell from your story, but it's possible the "offending" woman had previously given birth (or maybe she will in the future), and she didn't realize that she was talking to someone with such a fragile ego.
