This Lenten season, we invite you to join us in prayerful reflection and action with two resources from our justice peers: The Embracing Jesus’ Practice of Nonviolence reflection booklet from the Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns http://ow.ly/qHhS30imiXt and the Global Catholic Climate Movement’s interactive Lent 2018: Fast for Creation http://ow.ly/obbE30imiYF, which calls us to repent of the violence we have done to Our Common Home, to fast from further harm, and to commit to daily actions during Lent.

We hope that our public statements http://ow.ly/qgSZ30imj6R on nonviolence and Just Peace (2017) and climate change (2009) will also help you reflect on these critical justice issues of our day.

This prayer resource (Feb. 8) invites us to personal and communal reflection on the role culture plays in allowing human trafficking to flourish throughout global society, as Pope Francis calls us to engage in creating a new culture of genuine encounter. Multiple languages available from our website: http://ow.ly/d70i30i96VO Feel free to use and to share with others.

We thank the Marianites of Holy Cross for sharing the “Living a Nonviolent Life” reflection booklet with us. In light of the October 2017 signing of the Family of Holy Cross Statement on Nonviolence and Just Peace, the Marianites of Holy Cross have selected nonviolence as this year’s theme for the Decade of Days 2018 (January 20-29), a period of prayer and reflection honoring the anniversary of the deaths of Blessed Basile Moreau (20 Jan. 1873) and Mother Mary of the Seven Dolors (29 Jan. 1900). (Available in English and French.) http://ow.ly/ooL730hOTik
