climate change as a result of carbon emissions threatens to make the planet uninhabitable for future and present generations. As a result, public arts commission is developing a statement and programs related to public art and climate change. We are very interested and committed to making art and the planet inhabitable for present and future generations.

we're developing a much longer position regarding the white supremacist, alt-right and neo-Nazi violence in Charlottesville, Virginia related to the planned removal of the Robert E. Lee monument and the removal of monuments of the former confederacy in general. For now, we're saying we need greater public art to support greater democracy and that the statues of the former confederacy, insofar as they commemorate enslavement and disunion, do not reflect greater democracy.
