Really?
Canada's federal government drops anti-tobacco funding. Of note they bundled the change in with a massive budget bill and assorted other legislation, making it difficult to notice this small change and even harder to vote against.

The funding drop saves the government about $30M, which represents less than 1% of the money they receive annually from tobacco taxes. One could ask if the tax revenue outweighs tobacco-related healthcare costs, but that's a cynical attitude.

Multitaskers experience emotional benefits despite decreased productivity, according to study

I have posted several articles on the 'hazards' of multitasking including reduced productivity, but I guess we keep doing it because it feels so good :)

More and more media and distractions are competing for people's attention these days, so multitasking your way through the day is quickly becoming the norm — despite the fact that a number of studies show that humans are generally less effective when their attention is divided amongst several activities. If that's the case, why do people multitask? Researchers from Ohio State University set out to answer that question and discovered that multitasking provided test subjects with an emotional boost even despite the fact that they weren't actually being more productive.
