I'm Mexican. Grew up with flavor galore. I've been to all 48 lower states. Always try to order Mexican food wherever I'm at. Couple years ago folks from hotel down the street from this place sent me here. Coming from a 100% foodie with a doctorate in taste buds, this one super upbeat delicious place. The food on the menu actually describes the taste you receive. Is it the world's best - what the heck does that mean? Just dang great experience

The prospect of paying more than 10 dollars for mexican is a tough sell -- but if you are willing to give it a shot, rosa mexicano offers a nice atmosphere and with great staff, but marginal food (for the price). As almost everyone says, get the guacamole -- they made it fresh at your table and you are able to customize it to your liking. Be careful though, its very filling. Bonus: they will keep replenishing chips to further expand your gut. We ordered the budin de pollo (which was alright -- but I am not sure I would recommend it) and the salmon poblano (which was slightly dry but the kale below it was amazing). Our friends ordered the flank and the shrimp which they both liked. All came out in huge portions with enough sides to satisfy the table While overall the food was okay (better the day after) I was slightly disappointed in the quality of the food (the dry salmon and lackluster chicken) for the price. If the chef was paying attention, the salmon could come out moist and flakey, but instead it was overcooked resulting in a dry meat which required the sauce to moisten it up. Part of me felt like I have had better mexican at a local shop then what I got a Rosa Mexicano. A final nail in the coffin what that even our Sangria came off tasting a bit like sprite. The atmosphere is gorgeous and our service was quick and attentive. This is what saved me from a more disappointing review. With such a beautiful location and wonderful staff, I hope they can start paying attention to food quality -- otherwise I would recommend looking elsewhere because the price didn't match the quality of the final product.

The empanadas are a great appetizer and the sauce that comes with them is good as well. I tried the chicken tacos and that was pretty tasty as well. Chips were good, and the salsa was okay - nothing special, though. The restaurant has a pleasing décor and service was good as well - since it's near the Verizon Center, just be wary of long wait times if there is an event taking place that night (I always recommend making a reservation if you plan on eating in the Chinatown area). Overall, Rosa Mexicano serves pretty good Mexican food, especially for the DC area. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other dishes (and for the empanadas).

3 stars seems low, but I also understand it. The food is great, truly... but also expensive for what it is. The waiter brought us chips and salsa to start. Both nice. Nothing extraordinary, but salty and good. My fiancé and I split cheese enchiladas and the skirt steak plate. Both got lots of mms from us. The skirt steak plate was supposedly served family style, but didn't seem to be for more than one person. We were hoping to have leftovers to take home but had none! We also each got a drink. I had white wine sangria. It was very sweet. I wish the wine taste had cut through a little more, and that the fruit in it were more substantial. The fruit was mostly a few tiny chunks of apple and cucumber. For the three of us, including tax and tip, it was $105. Were I to go back, I'd simply not get the drink. $35pp is a bit steep, but if you take out the $10 from the drink... a $25 meal in the middle of town that is every bit delicious--that's not terrible in my book. I'm tempted to try the guacamole but it's just so expensive. We got the equivalent guacamole when we went to Oyamel and it wasn't worth it. It was delicious but was just guacamole. I have to imagine that Rosa Mexicano's would be the same. I just don't know if any guacamole is worth more than $5 or so, and this is almost triple that.

I'm changing my tune. They used to not be vegetarian friendly, but now they have a whole seasonal vegetarian menu, and the food is great!

This is among the best Mexican food I've ever had. I loved it. Not sure why it doesn't have higher ratings on here.

The food is great but expensive. Plus, I really did not enjoy my last visit there. We went to Rosa's for my friend's 25th birthday celebration before we went to the club. The service was horrible!!! I don't know if it was because it was close to closing time or what but I do not plan on returning. The waiter forgot my guacamole and chips order and just gave us salsa. They also disappeared when it was time to get the bill. My experience at Rosa's is usually a great one, so I was completely shocked.

If you want traditional, authentic Mexican food then there are better alternatives but this chain serves it's purpose as a more upscale chain. Although the food is good, the prices are not. Im originally from California so I'm used to getting a lot more for the money. Overall, not a bad experience.
