I think this is probably reaching the stage where it's fairly common knowledge, but here's a clean and easy way to create a short-cut to your Google+ account (via Brandon Stone and Shazeen Samad).

The end result looks like this

All you need to do is open up your root .htaccess file and add the following line of code:

Redirect 301 /+ (substituting your Google+ number for mine).

Google+ just got bunch better with your talents over here. Welcome.
root .htaccess file? Now where the heck do I find that? Help?
Deborah: first, your server needs to be running Apache (i.e. it needs to be a Linux server rather than a Microsoft box) and then you'll need FTP access to your server. If both apply, just look for the .htaccess file in the same folder as your main index file. For example, if you have the domain the .htaccess file is located at If it isn't there, you can create the file. Does that help?
Yana: I don't think it's at all necessary, there probably isn't any noticeable benefit, and it may be a trend that doesn't catch on. That said, you have nothing to lose by implementing it :)
David - much more comprehensible. Thanks. Found this posting as well to create a free acct with less work:
Absolutely, or an extremely expensive camera. The more you spend, the better you'll be ;)
I'll have to give that a try, thanks for the tip
