Yep; my current company did a deal with Vector Capital.

I wrote Python code today.

"Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood
Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather
The multitudinous seas incarnadine,
Making the green one red."

OH yeah! I haven't wanted to do an experiment like this and someone has gone and done it for me! Thank you, internet!

My personal tactic has always been to make sure the cookie dough is nice and chilled when it goes into the oven...but who knew the differences that would happen between all brown and all white sugar?! I had no idea!

"This man beside us also has a hard fight with an unfavouring world, with strong temptations, with doubts and fears, with wounds of the past which have skinned over, but which smart when they are touched. It is a fact, however surprising. And when this occurs to us we are moved to deal kindly with him, to bid him be of good cheer, to let him understand that we are also fighting a battle; we are bound not to irritate him, nor press hardly upon him nor help his lower self."
John Watson, 1903.

Summarized as: "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

Greetings,
Melissa and I were having a spirited(!) discussion on religion, cued by a segment on a recorded Colbert Report episode while Corwin, our four year old, seemed to ignore us, lost in his Angry Birds game.

Suddenly, without taking his eyes off his iPod Touch, he pipes up, "You guys are acting like Padme and Anakin."

My wife, thinking of the love scenes immediately answers, "Thank you." I however was not so sanguine, and asked, "In which movie?"

He immediately answered (again not taking his eyes from Angry Birds Space), "Revenge of the Sith. So stop it."

Melissa and I immediately knew he meant the arguing scenes and we agreed to table what was to us just a fun discussion of the merits and drawbacks of religion until after bedtime.

And then we looked at each other and mouthed silently, 'That was AWESOME!' Because yeah...that's some high-falutin' level thinking there, to draw that parallel, and express it so concisely.

...and that was our Moment of Awesome for the day. :)

Corwin told me today that yesterday the 'bad boys' at school didn't include him in their list of friends.  So today he's going to tell them that not everyone is their friend.  Then he gave a heavy sigh, and said, and I $#!t you not, 'Today's going to be a rough day.'

I tried to help him, but had very little idea what to say...seriously, cliques in pre-K?!?  WTF?!

I also had to remind myself to let him fight his own social battles; half because I suck at it, and half because he's got to face it himself.

So in honor of all that, I present my hand-made Socially Awkward Penguin With Offspring.
