This one is unbelievable. The Michigan Senate's higher ed appropriations committee is proposing to penalize any public university or college in the state that offers a labour-related course or program.

Don't believe the hype. MOOC pioneer and founder of Udacity, Sebastian Thrun, once said that within 50 years just 10 providers of higher education will be left standing in the wake of the on-line tsunami. It turns out Thrun may never have really believed it: "We were on the front pages of newspapers and magazines, and at the same time, I was realizing, we don't educate people as others wished, or as I wished. We have a lousy product."

A covertly recorded film reveals some disturbing information about police surveillance of the political activities of university students in the UK.  In the video, police are shown trying to persuade a Cambridge University student activist to provide information on other students. The officer explains that the police need informants to collect information about student protests as it is "impossible" to infiltrate their officers into the university.
Officer is filmed attempting to persuade activist in his 20s to become informant targeting 'student-union type stuff'
