In JUST ONE HOUR... we'll be LIVE right here:  http://bit.ly/1QFLKcR!!
5pm PT/8pm ET. It'll be recorded too!

Me and MakJo (Makenna Johnston official nickname: www.makennajohnston.com) are going to be on air with +Ollie Dale  chatting about all things "Finding Your Artist's Voice".

We'll be talking some photography of course, but this is also about Manifesting Dreams - and finding and "speaking" in your real voice no matter WHAT you're doing!

Makenna will share what it was like buying Julia Child's house and suddenly finding herself unexpectedly in the spotlight... I'll share how Julia Child's stance of "Courageous Cooking" extends into art and is why I'm so excited to be presenting one of the very first photo retreats at La Pitchoune! (it's not too late to get in on the Early Bird price!)

Oh - there's so much more... in addition to answering questions from the chat!

This photo feels like how I envision this entire conversation this evening... the perfect blend of solid and ethereal, both reaching toward and meeting in the light. Yup. Practical Magic.

Hope you'll join us!!

We had an amazing morning at The Hills taking photos.  The morning that bounces across the grasses there is always fresh and golden.  Thanks again to Sir Michael Hill and the whole Hill family and team there for helping us out! :)

The New York City Skyline

New York City is magical

during the pause between night and day

when the sun dips behind the skyline

shining its light out through the twinkling eyes of the buildings.

This time of day is when

dreams roll off the tongue,

with a slow-motion exhale

at the end of a word

in a phrase

that trails off

without end.

---

Winter in New York City isn't the friendliest especially near the water when the wind-chills dip into the single digits and the wind whips across the waves. This is the result of a 30 second long exposure taken last night with the Sony a99 after a long-walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. The view is of the skyscrapers of the Financial District in lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty can be seen fading into the sun-streaked horizon. I have always loved the way the skyscrapers in this view just sort of abruptly break up the more open view on the left.

I love the moments just after sunset. The sky sinks into a momentary pause before the night sky pulls itself over the city. When everything is devoid of color on cloudy days, the tiny bits of color during these moments that come from the lights in the skyscrapers and the color that streaks across the bone-chilled-grey sky reach right into the heart.

"Petra by Night"
Petra,Jordan
Top 12 Images of 2012 (http://bit.ly/130ciJn)

When it comes to travel bucket lists, the ancient city of Petra, Jordan generally ranks among the top 3 travel destinations for most photographers. After spending a month in Jordan teaching a photography workshop (+The Giving Lens )  with my good friend +Ken Kaminesky   in 2012, I can completely understand why. Of all my travels around the world, I have never seen anything like the ancient city of Petra that was carved out of the canyon walls.

To top it off, a few nights a week, a small portion of Petra is opened up at night to a select number of ticket holders. Starting at the entrance, candles light your way as you walk through "The Siq" that takes your through the rose colored canyon walls that tower over head. Eventually the canyon narrows and through the dim candle light "The Treasury" appears before your eyes. It is hear that you are treated to an amazing musical performance by local Bedouins. The entire experience is one I will never forget.

Jordan is one location that I will continue to return to for years to come.
