LA Casita Mexicana gets consistent praise. I hate to swim against the tide, but I must say I think it is overrated. I ate here for at least the 10th time for lunch today, and it is time for me to weigh in. The place was not that busy, less than half full. The service left something to be desired, and this is not the first time I have eaten at LA Casita and been disappointed in this department. I have finally decided that in truth I am disappointed in the mole. The 3 moles on the chips are very subtle. My taste in mole runs towards bold. I want to close my eyes and identify 3 distinct flavors, but I could not. This time I had the LA Casita Enchilada plate. 3 cojita cheese enchiladas in corn tortillas with chicken and potatoes. They would have been better with queso. Once again a little too subtle. And speaking of queso, we started with 3 cheese herb queso. I could not identify any of the herbs. Get the theme here. Too subtle. Despite my disappointment I will be back. I just need to remember to keep my expectations low. The place is way too charming to pass over.

The food was pretty good but a bit disappointed with one of the enchilada dishes. A bit hyped up in my opinion. Liliana's in ELA in my opinion better food and better bang 4 ur dollar.

La Casita Mexicana is an amazing, authentic, and delicious Mexican eatery. The restaurant is know for their CHILE EN NOGADA - stuffed with meat, dried fruits, walnuts, candied cactus, pecan cream sauce, and pomegranate seeds. A truly amazing dish that has been recognized by various publications. Other dishes that I would recommend would include any of their flans. Texture is thick and decadent. One of my favorite place to dine at!

This place is absolutely great! Visited on a Saturday afternoon for my Mother's birthday. Right from the start as we walked in we were greeted by the staff in a very polite and respectful way asking us how many in our group. We got seated immediately with no waiting on a table nearby the front. One of the waiters came by to offer us drinks and to tell us the special of the day and take our order for appetizer. I order the Horchata which is made to the most authentic original way. For my meal I order Cochinita Pibil - Pork shoulder marinated with achiote and braised in achiote paste and bitter orange juice it is served wrapped in a long green leaf, I wanna say Banana leaf but I'm not sure, It looked very professional and great presentation. As far as flavor, this was full of it, the marinated sauce along with the rice makes a perfect pairing. The location is decorated in typical Mexican tones, rustic browns and decorative items along the walls where there are windows making it look as a mexican villa with some of the modern yet classic songs of mexico playing in the background not too loud but just enough to hear the recognisable tunes. Overall this place is a spot to definitely not miss. The staff is very professional the food quality is of the highest quality and I would say in the style of my great-Grandmother with the most original mexican recipes from the olden days more than any place in the land that calls them self Authentic mexican. now THIS is what authentic mexican food really is like I feel we are too used to the typical every day modern , taco and burrito kind of stuff nowadays and those who feel that is real authentic mexican food don't really know how to appreciate the original recipes

Best mole, EVER! They have 3 different kinds of mole, and each one offers a different experience that you cannot compare to any other restuarant in my opinion. I wish I lived closer, but in retrospect, probably not a good idea. LOL, I would be there every day. The place is small, and at times hot especially during the summer. But any discomfort is well worth the wait for this mole. I still haven't found another restaurant that can make mole like La Casita Mexicana. Restaurant is very clean, waiters are attentive as well and your never left alone for long in case you need something. Excellent!

On August 15, 2013, I visited La Casita Mexicana in the city of Bell. I was craving for authentic Mexican Mole with a homemade feel to it. Before anything I checked out the reviews on Google, and Yelp to see what the average response was to its food and service. For every ten reviews there was one bad review in which out three hundred and seventy six it was really good. The restaurant was in a small city that was not well maintained or tourist friendly and if you did not know about the back door parking you would need to park in the heavily trafficked street. Coming into La Casita Mexicana was actually really refreshing but that was it. In the back of La Casita there was a gang of employees having a conversation and frolicking around with their black uniforms. We were assisted a few minutes once they spotted us but not with the enthusiastic manner you would expect from a well review establishment. When the waitress got to the door, she just grabbed two menus and started to walk towards the tables in the back with no greeting what so ever to make us feel welcomed. Coming in the place, I was greeted by the warm surrounding and decorative restaurant, but that was it. Many of the walls are bright with beautiful art and history that it was very unique to any restaurant. The tables where all covered in bright color cloth with glass on top of it and old deep colored chairs to match and the dark tile floors to complete the Mexican filled environment. Once seated and the menus handed out the waitress just skirted herself off without asking if we wanted a drink. It was not a busy day and they were not understaffed what so ever more like overstaffed and nothing to do in little old La Casita Mexicana. We waited for fifteen to twenty minutes till we got asked what we wanted to drink and eat now add another thirty-five to forty-five minutes until we received our food. Through the time we waited the watermelon drinks and mole covered tortilla chips arrived in they are delicious. Our order was Three Moles Enchiladas it consist of mole poblano, red and green pepian with some rice and the Three Meat Dish that has a combination of beefsteak, chorizo, and beef cicina with beans and a cactus wrapped cheese. Once the food had arrived, I needed a refill on my watermelon drink in which it was ignored a few times until they were asked to fill it up for again. The Enchiladas where plain and tasteless; however, the mole was delicious but the portions where not enough for my appetite. The Three Meat dish was just that a three meat dish nothing special other than a jaw tiring texture and plain taste. I wanted to try out the dessert, but with my experience with everything so far I declined and requested my bill. I love flan never turn it down but adding everything together it felt like it would have been a failure in their part.
