A short review of photo storage service Picturelife, which I have been using for a couple of months now.

(Short version: it's great, with a few negs that'll hopefully get ironed out.)
A review of Picturelife. What is it like to use? How do the iOS and Mac apps perform? Is the paid-for photo storage service worth the money?

The new exhibition at Two Temple Place, "Discoveries", is a nice bitesized bunch of eclectica from the University of Cambridge museums. Three rooms with everything from an icthyosaur fossil collected by Mary Anning to a snakes and ladders board from India (where the game originated).

Even better than the exhibits is the place: a Gothic Revival mansion built for William Waldorf Astor in the late 19th century. Loads of cool faux-medieval decor, like painted glass windows, carved friezes of literary figures and this mahogany, oak and ebony staircase. Wow.

Loved it: go.

Swapping Bella Italia for the Black Forest
(something I wrote for +HomeAway UK )
It's strange being so lost in a foreign tongue. This summer I swapped my usual stamping ground -Italy- for a week in southern Germany, around the Schwarzwald and Swabian Jura. From Frühstuck to Abendessen, I'm completely clueless....

Yes, that's definitely a near-lifesized Rafa Benitez, made from clay then painted and displayed alongside the main characters from the Nativity.

Via San Gregorio Armeno, Naples.

This is fascinating: what's growing among the ancient stones of Rome? More than you might think...
