There are more people here than before, and so it's more fun than it was. FB still has the critical mass.

Signed up for my first MongoDB course. Of course it's an admin course designed for DBAs. Can't wait!

I would do this if I were supporting databases. But the people who make decisions here decided not to use a database for an app that clearly needs one. (That said, we wouldn't use MySQL. We'd use something embeddable in a java app, e.g. SQLite, Derby, or HSQLDB.)

Yea!!! Tonite is SF Mysql meetup! (www.sfmysql.org). We're gonna get down with memcached & redis - when to use which and for what! Ryan's a good speaker and gets technical so should be great. Come bring your questions!

Wow!!! Student who webcammed his gay roommate having sex & invited others to also watch... & then his roommate committed suicide got ONE freaking MONTH for bullying his roommate to death. On the anniversary of the Dan White sentencing of killing SF Mayor Mascone & Harvey Milk.... 23 years later & what have we learned?

That America is still in the stone ages? Don't forget about the future of our Republican party in people like Rick Santorum, and the Tea Party...

Dear Facebook frontend engineers! Can you all put a bit more love into the iPad app & let me share articles, videos, etc?

And while you're at it - status list CUSTOM is still not working since the move to timelines.. My laptop keeps forgetting my custom setting, but my iPad & iPhone remember. I'm gonna be forced to unfriend a bunch of people!

Thanks FB!

I'm now on an iPhone & the FB app is pretty good there. My Android had other problems but I think I just used the mobile website one. Right now the mobile apps for FB have some advantages over the website. But the website is where my ticker is displayed & I love that!

I need to know how to turn on auditing for only SOME users on my MySQL db. General Log is overkill. My first time dealing with PCI. I might need beefier servers! And what do folks do with their RDS dbs??? sigh.

My impression is that Google+ has really started picking up in the past few months. It was a ghost town for awhile.

Brussels sprouts final recipe

About 1 - 2 lbs of Brussels sprouts. Large ones are easier to shred than the smaller ones, but I think the small ones taste better. We started with a mandolin but it was too cheap & broke so we switched to my sister's food processor which was hella fast! Then we tossed the shredded raw Brussels with some really nice olive oil (1 TBL ) & some apple cider vinegar. Put it in the fridge.

Some bacon ... High quality, raw slightly smokey bacon I got a trader joe's when I left the really good stuff I got a bi-rite at home. We cooked up what looked like 4-5 pieces of bacon. Cut/break them up into pieces. Let the oil soak into a paper towel. Any kind of interesting bacon like pork will do.

Chop up some toasted almonds, pecans. Not too fine. Chop up some green onions, dried fruit (we had figs, cranberries & blueberries but because they had sugar in the crans & bbs I didn't eat them).

In some sort of jar put olive oil & a white vinegar. We only had grocery store white wine vinegar but a white balsamic would have been really good (yea, I had that at home too!). Then add the green onion & a bit of salt & pepper. Put the jar in the fridge. We did this about 4-5 hrs before dinner. Just before dinner we tossed the bs with the dressing, added the nuts & bacon & tossed some more. I set aside my salad & added the sweetened fruit & tossed some more.

As usual, the better the ingredients the better the salad. Olive oil keeps it green!
