Anti +Google clamor has been escalating in San Francisco for the past few months.  People blame tech companies in general, and Google in particular for rising housing costs & rents.

It started with people protesting (then blocking, then attacking) the shuttle buses that Google uses to bring it's employees to & from work (there are no good public transportation options between San Francisco and Silicon Valley).

Then it escalated to people harassing people for wearing +Google Glass  because it's a very visible/noticeable item.

More recently people have been protesting in front of the homes of Google employees and posting "name & shame" flyers around their neighborhoods.

This is the most recent case, people are being worked up into a frenzy.

I think it's only a matter of time before someone is physically assaulted and injured for having some real or perceived association with Google.

When that day comes, I wonder what people like +Sam Biddle will have to say about it.

From +PhoneArena  via +TalkAndroid
When she saw Russell and his friend approach, the Glass hater yelled "Glass!", tore the hi-tech spectacles off his face and ran. Following the chase, the woman got away, but didn't make it out with the $1500 wearable - she smashed it on the pavement and escaped...

I'm surprised it's legal to make garments out of human skin leather.   Also surprised there are enough vegans out there to make enough leather to mass produce such garments. ;)

This is a good read for any fellow disaffected Republican.

Regarding the headline, that is a question I ask myself on a regular basis especially during election cycles.

Oklahoma state Rep. Doug Cox tells Salon why his Republican colleagues' policies are "discriminatory against women"

+Cover did a number on my battery over the last day.

Checked their site and I'm apparently a couple versions behind for some reason. I'm on 0.1.10 and the current version is 0.1.10.3. Wonder why the new version is not visible to me in the Play Store.

Maybe I'm alone here but I'm actually a bit sad to see Piers Morgan go.  Because I think that Gun Control advocates have a slightly better chance of success without him contributing to the debate.

Still, while he may have been the archtypical example of the liberal gun control zealot who didn't know anything about the things they want to ban there is no shortage of those people remaining.
Former CNN muckraker (haha) Piers Morgan bid farewell to his 9pm cable news time slot last night, having been ousted by the network due to flagging viewership of his Piers Morgan Live. The imported Brit dedicated his final segment to his career's latest, greatest cause: U.S. gun control.

Today when I went to the USS Iowa there were some union thugs blocking the entrance to the parking lot.

Their signs said "unfair labor practices" which no doubt means one of the cruise ship companies (the cruise terminal shares an entrance with the Iowa) dared to hire people who don't pay union dues.

When I was pulling in I rolled up and one of them was giving them the dirtiest of looks. They didn't have enough goons to completely block the driveway so I was able to force my way past.

Today +Tove Aitchison and I went to the Peterson Automotive Museum, the last time we were here was probably 8+ years ago when the kids were in Cub Scouts.  A bit more relaxed coming here when you aren't in charge of 25 grade schoolers ;)

Pictures taken with our 10+ year old 5MP Canon camera that still takes decent (if low res) shots.  Hey at least these won't count towards my +Google storage quota.

This is interesting, it was expected that +Amazon.com would be releasing a video appliance and here it is.  Looks to be competing more with +Roku and Apple TV than with Chromecast.

I still don't have any of these devices because I don't have much of a use case for one.

Presumably the Fire TV is running a customized (restricted) version of Android similar to the Kindle Fire, depending on how hackable this thing is it might be interesting to play around with.

I think I will suggest this for my parents, currently they are using their Xbox 360 (one of our old ones) for watching +Netflix but of course that requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription which they literally have no other use for (the Xbox almost never gets used for games and never ever for gaming online) so this would pay for itself in just over 2 years based on that use alone.  They of course have Amazon Prime but I don't think they ever use Prime Instant Video and maybe this would encourage them (by making it easier) to do so.

+Allan Kintz have you any interest in this?

Between my Chromecast and my PS3 (for Amazon Prime video), I'm not sure this adds enough to the mix to justify the price.

These are the ones I've been waiting for.  I was worried that the specs would be really low end with the Galaxy Tab Pro series coming out a couple months ago but these are pretty decent.

I will almost certainly buy one of these to replace my 2 year old Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.  Though thanks to smaller bezel the Tab 4 8.0 is barely bigger than my Tab 2 7.0 so I may opt for that instead of the Tab 4 7.0.

I still don't know why they feel the need to put a rear facing camera in these, at least it's a cheap low-spec one.  I'd still like to see it removed to make way for more battery life.

I'd be worried that the high prices of the Tab Pro tablets will relegate them to niche products which will kill the custom ROM options.

Any chances of getting CM11 on the Tab Pro 10.1???
