Really +Toyota USA?  I was almost excited to learn that you were killing off the +Scion brand, not because I ever cared about Scion but because it meant that the GT86 would be (obviously) badged properly here in the U.S.

Now I learn that inexplicably you are keeping the (beyond) meaningless FR-S badge?  Why?

What an eventful day we’ve had mourning... well, discussing the death of the Scion brand! Then again, the Scions themselves aren’t really dying, they’re just getting absorbed into the Toyota brand. But what will we call them?

How to know if you've been playing too much (or maybe the right amount) of #fallout4.

My sister in law and her husband have been clearing out the garage for her husband's father. He's getting on in years and lives with them in Reno so the house in Van Nuys was put up for sale. The man was a vacuum repairman for most of his long professional life and he collected a huge amount of stuff over the decades.

I stopped by the house this past weekend and noticed in a pile of rubble a hot plate that looked exactly like the hot plates you collect and scrap for your settlements in Fallout 4. Looking around some more I found a lot more stuff that looks like it was ripped right out of the game including a desk fan (that weighed like 15lbs in reality) and a great fire extinguisher.

I took pictures of my "loot haul" and of other stuff in the garage. I think there was enough stuff in there to build a generator and 3 turrets :)

I ended up keeping the hot plate and the tin can, I wanted the desk fan but apparently that's going back to Reno. Probably just as well as the desk fan would have made me overencumbered ;)

I'm told they keep luggage for the cruise ship passengers there.

In a study that never would have been published in the U.S. the Public Health Service in England has determined that smoking e-cigarettes is 95% safer than smoking tobacco cigarettes.

As a non-smoker and non-vaper I'm ALL ABOUT e-cigarette use because it means less nasty smoke to breathe and less disgusting trash in our environment.

From +The Guardian via +Gizmodo
Government body says vaping can make ‘significant contribution to endgame of tobacco’ and raises concerns about length of licensing process

We are on the tail end of a major kitchen remodel, over the past few months we've purchased several thousand dollars worth of stuff from +The Home Depot including a new tile floor (installed) a new quartzite countertop (installed), a new sink, new faucets, some new appliances and much more.

Now that we're in the home stretch we are starting to return some of the items that we purchased that we didn't end up needing.

We actually have a fat stack of receipts for everything we have purchased, but there are a few items we lost the receipt for.  Normally this would not be a problem because they give you store credit which is easily spent, usually in the same trip that you made the return in.

Well apparently there is a new policy that The Home Depot will not accept ANY returns if ANY part of the purchase was made with store credit.  We found this out when we tried to return a $140 water pressure regulator, less than $20 of the purchase was made with store credit and the rest was paid for with cash.  We even have the receipt for the purchase.

We'd have been fine if they wanted to give us all $140 of the return in store credit but they are giving us nothing at all.

It's looking like +The Home Depot is about to lose a customer for life over $140.

Home Depot is being very short sited, and will lose lots of customers over this stupid policy. We should spread the word that consumers do have a choice where they shop and want to be treated fairly and with respect. Maybe HD will get the message.

Had a great and informative tour of the USS Missouri last week while visiting Pearl Harbor. I took many pictures with multiple cameras and it will take me a while to sort and organize it all.

Normally I don't pay attention o things like sunrises and sunsets. This sunrise from Monday morning was just too striking to ignore.

Of course +Tove Aitchison points out the fact that my noticing and bothering to take a picture like this is proof that I'm getting old ;) I told her it's OK as long as I don't start photographing autumn leaves.

Last week +Tove Aitchison and I were in Las Vegas for a small getaway. We took a tour of Red Rock Canyon on one of the days.

We were more curious about the canyon thanks to it's being featured in Fallout: New Vegas but were really impressed at how gorgeous it was.

Definitely recommend a trip there when you are in the area.
