I loaded photos in Google and it automagically made an animation. Very cool.

At long last, elementary OS 'Luna' is out.

We are so incredibly proud to release elementary OS “Luna”.

Users can download Luna from the elementary website using the simple pay-what-you-want button on the homepage. Physical Luna CDs, as well as branded t-shirts and stickers, are now available and ship out starting today. If you pre-ordered a Luna CD, it is already on its way (or may have arrived; check your mailbox)!

It’s been a long road to Luna, but we’ve arrived in better shape than ever. Congratulations and our sincerest thanks go out to the entire community for riding along on this incredible journey.

My friend +Sarah Sharp is a rockstar for taking a stand against anti-social and verbally abusive programmers (including the creator of Linux).  Even people who think swearing at fellow coders is appropriate should be able to admit that her action took courage.  Know what doesn't take courage?  Sending anonymous hate mail.

The classic "get back in the kitchen, bitch" argument. Oh, hey, I baked a pie for you: https://picasaweb.google.com/116960357493251979546/Christmas2009#5422645987668778610 I am a master chef, and a Linux kernel maintainer.

Except he's not anonymous.  Polybun is the furry pseudonym of Ben Smith of Portland's NE 55th Avenue.  My roommates and I had to go over there to collect money from him after he showed up uninvited at our place and shit the couch.  In other news, people with an adult baby fetish and no filter are just beyond creepy.

At Open Source Bridge Nathan mentioned that it would be ideal to make it standard practice to require data from companies under contract with the city.  Here's a great example (at the national level) of the problems presented when that doesn't happen:

I thought Brackets was cool when I first saw it, but this a whole new level of awesome.

Extract #CSS  and image assets from +Adobe Photoshop design comps. You kinda have to see it to believe it...

The biggest challenge facing the planet is climate change, and how to overcome the political apparatus of the status quo.  I'd love to see what, if anything, Google [x] could do about it.

Two good reasons why Portland should create an open data policy: 1) it can save money and 2) make government more effective.  Great read.

I don't honestly see how Inhofe can deny climate change.  All he's gotta do is step outside this time of year or the dead of winter and it's plainly obvious the summers are a lot hotter and the winters a lot colder here than they've ever been.  Oklahoma's one of the most adversely affected places in the world when it comes to climate change.

As a forward-thinking technologist and developer, I'm surprised to learn that Google is funding backwards-thinking climate change deniers like Senator Inhofe and ALEC. Google needs to get back to not being evil and start setting a positive example in the tech industry. For now, it's a good thing we've still got Firefox and Facebook.
